Wow, amazing experience for all the family members, from little ones to seniors. All the great staff were super friendly and professional. The motel was great, super clean, and very comfortable. It has a beautiful pool that you will enjoy after a long day traveling. The tour staff were super professional and knowledgeable. We’ll come back with more friends.

A very unique experience! A great activity for a hot summer day to escape the heat. Our tour ended up taking 2 hrs rather than 90 minutes so just be aware in case you have a time constraint. The walk is easy with lots of breaks and our four year old handled it no problem. Definitely recommend!

Buying tickets online was easy and effortless, we got there alittle late due to monsoon rains that day, just made our tour. You can’t bring bags in the tour with you so we choose to do the gift shop after the tour, but we didn’t realize that the gift shop closed early, so when our tour was done the gift shop was closed, that was a huge bummer for my daughter she couldn’t get rocks. I took my 6 year old daughter who loves rocks and caves! She loved it! Definitely wear a jacket and pants, it’s freezing down there. I went here as a kid, and it was time to carry the tradition down to the next generation. Tour guides were informative and nice, our tour was a bit rushed, you couldn’t just stop and admire the cave, you had to look while keep moving. The tour guide stops at important areas but just felt rushed. Most of the attractions around the place were closed, so we didn’t really get the whole effect of the place but would go again in a few years.

Cool spot to visit! Very organized tour in a colorful cave and a fun boat ride included inside and then you walk back out the same way, friendly staff that takes you around. The group size was around 20-30 when I went (a few months ago around the Labor Day break). There's also a secret cave nearby but I didn't have time to go there this time, will have to come back again in the future! Book the tickets online in advance to reserve the time you like, they recommend coming 30 minutes early but we ended up getting here late (from fixing a flat tire on the way) by 10 minutes and they took us to our group to catch us up right away, great experience overall and I'd definitely recommend it to others. You do have to wait a bit when walking around to wait for the group but not too bad.

They have a variety of sizes of bags and prices. The experience is so so, not authentic, if you are looking for an authentic experience I would recommend Herkimer Ace of Diamonds Mine. My family always enjoys going for an authentic experience and pull great gems out
It's like 3/4 of total distance is walking and 1/4 is boat ride. And you dont need a lights. It's already lighted up .
Very beautiful place
Parts of the Cavern are, There are access ramps and modifications. Depending on your mobility and limitations some parts could be more challenging than others but absolutely they will accommodate as best they can.
It is reservation only at this time so old fashion phone call should work.
Yes we had breakfast and lunch there. Eggs toast bacon, and breakfast sandwiches. For lunch we had boarhead wraps and left with some great fudge from the candy shop!
Yes it can get wet and cold especially on the boat ride.
Sunday, 9/3, closed due to the weather Monday, 9/4 (Labor day), open 9 am - 6 pm
They are open, with covid restrictions of course. Masks are compulsory once you're inside.
It's best to call them directly about inventory.
They seem to be open everyday. Need to buy tickets in advance for tours.
No, I went to the cave tour on Saturday for the first time and didn't saw any bats.
Depends on how close you want to be. There should be a bunch within an hour of it. You also have baseball hall of fame in Cooperstown which is about an hour.
Right now, Yes
I'm thinking probably July
Not yet, but I'd like to
Costs extra to do additional things onsite (things that's most people would rather do) other than the tour
Tours only
There's also lost cavern
A person needs to stand, walk, the path is bricked and mildly damp in spots, elevator to cave floor is tightest spot on normal tour. There are handrails. Lighting is dim.
90 minutes, give or take, for the standard tour. It varies in time on the size of the group and the tour guide. We had a few times today, where we spent time waiting for the group ahead to move along from the next stop. Which was actually kind of nice to not have to rush through it.
There isn't one you have to pay for whatever tour you're going to
Absolutely! But if you think the narrow part is too narrow, you can bypass it.
No there are spots that you couldn't fit a baby stroller people that had little ones carried them
Yes, and you can't just explore, there are guided tours.
I would agree with Linda about the limitations pf a walker at Howe caverns.
Yes they are open all summer, we loved it!
On their Facebook page they say open daily from 4/12-4/28. There is no mention of being closed for Easter. Hope this helps.
Gift Cards Available to Purchase Mon. thru Sat. 9 am to 4pm. Please call!
I didnt see any public grilles or places to set up your own.
It looked nice on the outside! I have never been there though.
Pets are not allowed...
They do have emergency exits
I would say no. Call ahead and check depending on what you need. Some places are narrow, under ground boat ride would present problems, steps, and slopes that might be difficult.
No open rain or shine
It's just the travel to get there is what would bother me. Not really sure if they are open. Make sure you check.
The caves are generally open except during extreme weather events like hurricanes. The outdoor activities like the ropes course are weather dependent.
No they stay open.... if it's to hot the shut down everything but the cave. Bring a sweater. Wish someone told us that.
Yes its pretty cold down there. Better to bring warm clothes or you can buy at the spot.
Adults 25. Seniors 22. Juniors 21. Children 13. 4 and under 0. Tax is included. They also have specialty tours. Open from 9 a. M. To 6 p. M. Daily
Please check the website for the most current information about pricing and availability times. That is the most accurate information.
I know
Personally I'd only been there on school trips I've never paid but for like things like a zip line or the ropes course it's 10 or $15 I don't know what the h2ogo is but pretty sure it's on the 17th
I would attempt to call in advance. Although tours run every 30 minutes, there may be group tours that day which could delay you.
You can, its 52°f and your legs are very unlikely to get scraped
Yes there are, in fact I think there's one on site, Google ,Howe Caverns there's probably a link
I believe it's 25 kids are different as,well as senior citizens. The tour is amazingly beautiful it's about 1 1/2 long . It's well worth it!
You probably should lookup 'Howe Caverns Motel' on Google, their website has pictures, I believe that they have been upgraded recently.
Yes.
Adults, $25.00. Seniors, $22.00. Juniors Ages 12-15, $21.00 Children Ages 5-11, $13.00. Children Ages 4 & Under FREE.
Use map quest , it will give you a direct route, and time. I'm not sure I'm from Ct
It is real, you can take pictures in the lobby with props, but you will be given a robe to wear down in the cavern
It's definitely worth going there
Yes the boat ride is included in the tour have a good time when you go
Baby's are allowed no strollers obviously but a pack is nice for holding on to the walls where its slippery
The temperature is a constant 54 degrees. A medium jacket would be best. Whatever you're wearing for outside tomorrow will be perfect. I believe if the cavern is open the boat ride is open as well. As stated above it is part of the tour. Have fun.
I was a tour guide there for 7 summers, and one year-round in the '80s-'90s. Never saw a fish. What you saw may have been a gag? The water is 42 degrees year-round & no natural light = no food source. Edit after answer: visited since, and asked tour guide, who said occasionally in high Spring water, a fish might wash down. However, again, in the 8+ Spring/Summers I guided there, I never saw one.
I wasn't able to find any information on separate hours during the summer season. Their staff is very helpful, I would recommend a phone call to them. They'll be able to answer any question you have.
