It's like 3/4 of total distance is walking and 1/4 is boat ride. And you dont need a lights. It's already lighted up .
There are lights during the cave tour. You walk for about total of 1 mile then boat ride for a total of 1/4 mile. They might turn lights off at some point but too many tours going through the whole time. The is a special tour but I think they provide lights
Hi! Just for the special small group tour they provide a special wear and head flashlight. We so this group on other part of the cave. It seems very interesting. Sorry we didn't have enough time to get this tour. But for regular tour there are plenty of lights on the walls of cave. Have fun there!
Cavern is all lit up in colored lights for effect. Its mostly a walking tour that lasts about an hour and a half. It is a slow paced walk with lots to see. At the end of the brick paved walkway is the boat ride which lasts all of 10-15 minutes. At the far end of the boat pond is the way to the natural entrance which is not accessable to the public. Then the guide does a reversal and you get to see everything in reverse and walk back to the beginning. This is far from splunking but definitely worth it if you never have been in a cavern or to Howes.
No light needed . Boat ride about 2 minutes. You do walk too! cold 52 degrees. Wear pants and jacket or sweat shirt.
There is a walking sectio in the caves down to the boats. the boat ride is a short two way ride covering a section in the that has no dry land. No need for lamps.
Don't worry about lights, the caves are lit up and dont expect much from boat ride. Its just an experience of boating on underground water.
I only did regular tour. Majority of the tour is walking. The boat ride at the end is maybe 20 minutes round trip. Electricity with lights throughout. No need for lanterns or flashlights.
