Great experience, adopted 3 adorable kittens here and they're now a few years old and doing well!

Although surgery went well for my 4 babies on Aug 29, 2022 & the staff I dealt with were pleasant My babies contracted Parvovirus while at the clinic & 2 have already passed along with 1 of my other cats. I have 3 more infected and am currently trying to make them as comfortable as I possibly can, due to the fact that I don't have over $4,000 a piece for hospitalization & medical treatment. When I called to report this the staff member was not very sympathetic to my situation. I am completely heart broken. I was unaware of this virus prior & wish that still was the case.
jamey williams
They took great care of my two dogs that needed spayed. Staff was very friendly and caring towards my girls.

You have to be at least 13. To work directly with the animals, you have to be 18. I volunteer there :)
Also whether you rent or own
You can take her too SPCA and tell them tht she don't get along with other cats Ellie.
Yes they do have small dogs I just rescued one but they go fast so you're going to have to go in a lot and hopefully you'll get one it took me 3 months or 4 months to get one
Had our 6 mo. Old beagle spayed for $250.
You would have to ask the staff or look for a dog kennel that's affordable
You must make an appointment with them. Very caring people
They are extremely busy and shorthanded, leave a detailed message and they'll get back to you.
Just fixed 3 kittens that showed u at my house. You can take them to york spca and get them fixed and shots for 68.00 dollars per cat Mon thru thurs /drop off and pick up . One cat per person. Very well run organization.
I'm not sure if they declaw anymore you would have to call them or go onto their site and ask
I went on their site and filled out an application for the dog I wanted to see. They called and set up the appointment. You cannot go in the building.
Sweet Souls in Hanover Pa is a cat rescue. She may take them.
Flo Hagarman... Gather any shot records u may have for ur dog. If u don't have any current shot records, no worries. They can give the shots the day of the dog's neutering, for additional cost. But the shots doesn't as much as a vet office would charge.
On order to get any animal out of its pen you must have an approved adoption application. Yellow carded animals, per what we were told when we adopted our boys, are not available to be shown or adopted.
They do take cats at the shelter. Was there last week and they don't have many cats up for adoption right now
I believe 8 weeks is rhe recommended minimum age.
No my friend. Lancaster is closing. Not York.
Call the vet Don't post and wait!
You can try to call the local vets. The may do charity care or do a payment plan.
Hello Madeline, to surrender a pet, please take a look at the Surrender page on our website: https://ycspca.org/programs-services/surrenders/ if you have additional questions, please call us at 717-764-6109
I am not sure I can answer that question. But I am sure they can use any kind of help you can give. Please give them a call or stop by the shelter. Good luck to you!
The York SPCA will not do cosmetic alterations to pets
They will give your cat shots if it needs them.
If you contact the shelter, they can probably connect you with someone who can trap the cats and get them spayed or neutered. I'd do it, but I live in West Virginia (I take cars to the clinic once a month, but I only have time to trap locally.)
I'm not for sure I think it's like $80
Hi jack! The shelter in fact does take in dog/cat treat/food that are unopen. There is a droo off hox in the front of the building. You can drop it off at anytime of the day. They also take blankets with no buttons, stuffinf, holes or zippers. Cat litter, collars, crates, paper towels, bleach for cleaning etc. Thats all i can think of at the moment.
I'm sorry I can't help you out with that I don't know if they would do that or not you'd have to call them I wish I could help you out so I for your loss
Everything is by appointment only right now
You can probably call in or email them to see what the process is to volunteer there. I'm sure they could use some help.
Yes. The goal is to stop the breeding of unwanted pets. Everyone gets spayed or neutered.
Either 911 or animal control. U should be able to Google the animal control number for the spca.
I think they can help but not sure about their capacity. You can re-home using Facebook marketplace or Band.
I'm not sure you have to go on their website.
Yes
They do not declaw cats anymore because it's inhumane so your best bet would be to get a senior cat an ask if it was done
Yes call and make an appointment
It is volunteer and age doesnt always matter
Check online they may have an application . Or just go there and ring the bell at the main door and ask for one
Nicky what kind of dog? And whats the diagnosis?
No
You would have to call and ask them how much
SPCA hours Monday/wed/Sunday closed Tuesday 10-7 Thursday 10-7 Friday & Saturday 10-4 .
Yes they require appointments and there is only certain days they do IT. But the staff is super nice.
Yes you can be a volunteer at 16 you can be as young as 13 and still volunteer
The SPCA will take the stray without charging u a fee. That's what they do
Depends on the age and breed and how long they've been there. Cats are much cheaper, but we got a dog there who was younger and mixed breed, cost about 150 for adoption fees.
We adopted a dog about a year ago and had everything done right away. We waited a day to bring our other dog to meet her and make sure they got along but they're pretty quick to get you all set to go. Could have taken her right then if we wanted to.
James, the shelter is open Saturdays 10-4.
You come back the same day you drop off in the morning there is specific times when you make the appointment you also need to pay Up Front
Bunny People in Harrisburg. Rabbit rescue. They can help you Look up on Facebook
Call animal control
I believe its 12 weeks. And you have to make sure your female isnt in heat when you take her to have it done.
13 to 17 Years Old Ages 13 to 17 Years Old The Youth Volunteer Program is fun and rewarding for teens to help the York County SPCA. York County SPCA › uploads › Yo... YC-SPCA Youth Volunteer Program Application - York County SPCA Google "volunteer age for York SPCA"
They are closed Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. Tuesday, Thursday- 10am-7pm Friday, Saturday- 10am-4pm
Call the police asap
I believe you can take it into shelter if u call and listen to voice mail i believe there is a message with instructions
They do have a wish list on. The list is states new or gently used towles. https://www.ycspca.org/spca-wish-list/
Best to call them directly, or leave a message with your contact info.
I believe small animals and others are half price this weekend. You'll have to go check it out.
No there not. Animal Rescue is tho.
They typically do have at least a few rabbits. Sometimes they are at the PetSmart on Rt 30 or Petco on Eastern Blvd. You could also check Petfinder.com
Animal control
My male cat was neutered Nov 2018. I needed his shots done and neutering. So I think it cost me $75
Give the spca a call. I've dealt with them for one of my pups. Very friendly and helpful.
I would call and speak with them. Owner surrenders might have strict guidelines on reasons, but I'm not sure what the specific ones are. If you have the time, I would also look at other shelters that have a barn cat program. They might be able to help out also.
Not sure. They get busy and some animals are real scared and nervous. Maybe call and start off volunteering. Maybe walking them in the grass. Spring is coming and I'm sure the animals would love you for it.
I think volunteering starts at 16. Call the telephone number and leave a message for the lady in charge of volunteers and the spca will call u back.
This isn't the place to ask that question. You need to call them and ask one of the staff. Google isn't monitored by the staff.
They do let people volunteer. The age requirement must b 16. And call the front desk to ask what their needs r. That might change. They appreciate any help.
Distemper and rabies is the same as any vets office but without the office visit service charge.
Hey Roxann, give them a call. I'm sure they can fit you in.
You need to call.
Every rescue and shelter has their own adoption requirements. There will be dogs at the spca which you will not be able to adopt with a small child in the house too.
I had two cats done with shots and it was 100.00 at Animal Rescue Inc.
In the same place that you ask the question.
Vaccines can be done at the spca or at petco. Bring any records you have for your dog. Call the spa to make the spay or neutering appt. They really are good people to take care of pets. I recommend them.
Yes they do, on Pet finder
I don't know. They are probably cremated.
@ k frock i was able to take him to a family member and all is well working on legal things to get him back.. Your 100% right thanks!
Probably not
No, they are a public shelter constantly taking in discarded, perfectly good animals because selfish people think they are disposable. Responsible loving people can find housing without dumping their dog or cats. The only other reason that irritated me more than moving is fake allergies... very rarely does a person SUDDENLY develops allergies after having the furry family member for more than a year, very few reasons for giving up a pet are not selfish. Please adopt! Make a lifetime commitment to those who you bring under your roof!!
You should call them for this.
No you don't have to have a fence. My husband and I adopted a dog and we do not have a fence. We however take him on lots of walks and are currently working on off the leash training with him so we can take him to the dog park.
If you are looking for a pit bull puppy try New York Bully Rescue, or the rescue I transport and Foster for and love the ladies running it.......Rescue Dogs Rock NYC. I wouldn't adopt anything from the York County SPCA. They think they are better and smarter than everyone else. I tried to adopt from them 3 or 4 times and they always had an excuse. Once they said I had too many animals (I live on a small farm with barn cats, horses, ducks, two mini goats, & dogs. One time they told me I needed to wait longer after my one dog passed away. One time they told me I wasn't allowed because where I live you are allowed only 2 pets (of course depending on who you are) but my one is a Service dog so he doesn't count. Blah, Blah, Blah. Look elsewhere......just my advice.
Yes. Call animal control asap! They will be more help than the SPCA I believe. I think they are a government agency that can enforce laws.
They charge from 15.00 for a feral TNR to 95 for a cat. The clinic is open Monday to Friday. Appointments start at 7am for an owned cat, and 8am for feral TNR/SOS. Pickup would be the next day. https://www.ycspca.org/spay-neuter-surgical-center
Included in the fee is also chipping and neutering
Visit the center and look for one that would be compatible to you needs and wants. Thenspend a little time walking the and playing around the grounds. Once you've found your companion make your wishes known to the desk staff, pay necesdary fees and ypu have your compamion! That easy, just takes some time!
You'll need to either go in or give them a call for this.
Yes they do. It's a 1st come 1st serve basis. Call and speak to the. They are helpful and friendly.
Last time I volunteered there, I think that there was one hampster, and a whole bunch of guinea pigs. I could be wrong, but I'm not sure.
As far as I know, they will treat and spay/neuter the cat at a cost of $15????. Then you can take it back to let go. Call them .
They have paid employees, but they don't get paid nearly as much as they should.
You do not need an appointment to drop off, but you do need one to adopt. They have public hours three days a week
SPCA animal shelter and Neighbors maybe if you put her food and water outside to come home
YES. You have to be at lease 13. You can not work directly with the animals until you are 18. I volunteer there so if you turn in your application that you get there, say hi or something. My name is Isabella. :)
Absolutely not. A therapy pet is allowed in any establishment wether it be restaurants or residential areas. They legally cannot make you get rid of your pet.
As low as $15 if they are stray/ferrel. Program is calles SOS (SPAY OUR STRAYS). Cat has to be in a humane live trap. It will be neutered, given shots and have it's ear clipped to show that it has been neutered. Regular price for females I think is like 95.
No, you register (sign up) online, they then call you for confirmation and pre-payment. Then they give you the date and time to come in over the phone. You go in without your pet and sign in, they then tell you when to let your pet out of the car and into the office. But sign up online and they will manage you from there.
It depends on which one you choose. Some of them are different prices depending on their breed and age.
You need to contact the spca direct for that answer.
It's both volunteers and paid employees.
The prices for spaying and neutering are listed on the website. To have a house cat spayed is more than a stray. Thedifferences in the procedure and why are listed in detail as well.
I know they offer this service for other pets ,think you may have to call
Go online and put in a lost cat report. You can even put in a picture
I agree with the person above your best bet is to go thru the police department
The SPCA has a chow for pals program you can use up to 6 times a year. They will ask a couple questions but they do help.
I recommend a rescue also.. If the SPCA gets over booked your dog could get put down.
It was $15 but that was 2 years ago
There are already lots of nice pits there. She wil be well cared for, but will be there for a while
I'm not positive but I haven't seen any when I go to look around. It's possible that if they do come in from time to time they are adopted really quickly with how beautiful they are.
Try too much of a good thing in little's town 40$ spay and nuter
Yes they do robert Amos they are open 7 days a week open at 10am to 4pm and on weekends they are open at 11am to 5pm and it is only $30
Agreed with Amanda! That's exactly what they told us when we adopted our puppy 3 months ago
Owner surrenders are the first to be PTS because there's no holding time period. Pits are the MOST euthanized, Chihuahuas 2nd most, black dogs and cats are also highly unadoptable. This is nationwide, not just York County.
At the SPCA it 35$ I believe but call them first thing in the morning
I'm sorry. That I'm not sure of. Maybe try craigslist or letgo. I would ask questions to potential takers, to help ensure it goes to a good home. I would even ask for a small some of money. You may also want to try, petsmart. Good luck to you...
They might have not know. Sometimes they aren't given all of thr information from the previous owners.
They do. But they perfer you call n let them know ahead of time, so they can make room.
We got a cat and had to update the microchip to our name and address. We just went to the spca with the chip number to have it done.
