We adopted a dog about a year ago and had everything done right away. We waited a day to bring our other dog to meet her and make sure they got along but they're pretty quick to get you all set to go. Could have taken her right then if we wanted to.
Generally you are completing a application that asks for verified location and information on the household. If the dog needs to be spayed or other vet care it takes a few days. The more information about your home and verified address determines how soon your dog can leave.
