Awesome hike, a lot of water crossings so need water shoes. About an 1hr hike to the spot. Well maintained trail and well-marked trail with yellow markers about 100 meters apart. Met a friendly dog named Bandit and he led me all the way there, so bring a treat for his good work if you run into him.

This place is must see wear appropriate shoes their several river crossing, take back pack with drinks snacks and if you want to swim take towl someone said water was around 50 degree but it was amazing trail not marked the best watch make sure you stay on trail

Beautiful hike. Some apps rank this as a hard hike, but really it's only tricky navigating creek crossings. Wear good water shoes and don't worry about getting your feet wet and it's much easier. In the summer it gets crazy packed so go early. Went on a weekday and we had it all to ourselves foe over half an hour.

What an amazing place! Water was still cold through the afternoon. We were unable to get into the water. We reached at 7:30AM on Sunday (2nd May, 2021) and there was no one except us. Started spotting people around 9:30AM. We could see some crowd around afternoon. Weather was cold in the morning. There's no coverage, save offline maps. The hike took 2 hours with lot of stops for photographs. One of us returned to the start point in 45mins, so that's about the fastest you could do one-way wothout stopping. Parking at hike entrance accommodates 20-30 cars. However, the gravel road is patchy and you may find it difficult to reach there. Overflow parking is spacious and you'll find a spot but need to walk additional ~1 mile each way on road. Things to take note of: - No restrooms - No restaurants closeby. - No cellular coverage. - Not an easy hike. Might not be kids friendly. - Carry some first aid just in case. - Carry food and water.

I would car camp in parking lot for an early morning hike.
Yes you can. The water is extremely cold. I'd estimate it at 54 degrees. You will be cool for the remainder of the day for sure.
You will drag bottom getting to and from the actual parking lot. High clearance vehicle is recommended.
I have a 3 year old son and I would not recommend taking small children on the hike. There are a lot of creek crossings and some uphill areas, I think it would be too much for them.
Certain parts are pretty deep..over your head..some are not..Its a beautiful place but its a VERY long walk..through some trails and then through quite a few wide rocky creeks about a foot deep..that you have to walk through. The water is ICE cold..best to go on A super Hot day! I was sore for days after that long hike/walk..some places you have to climb down backwards to get there...
Technically its not allowed, but its not really monitored.
There is no charge. Please be mindful of keeping thrash with you. Happy hiking.
It don't have a current, and there's plenty of rocks to hold on to. If they know how to swim then they'll be just fine. But safety is always important. So bringing them and making the choice once your there would be ok. But it's safe.
No. Access and parking are both free.
Great hike for a dog bring water of course alot of people bring their dogs along
The parking lot is half a mile to the trail head. After that it is another 2 miles in to the bathtub, not a difficult hike either. Just a few times where you cross the creek.
The short way from the car to the bathtub was 5 to 5 1/2 miles. Up hill n down hill threw creeks. Was more like a 2 hour for my group 4 adults n 4 kids.
We stayed at natural tunnel state park . Beautiful and peaceful and only about 30 mins to the devils bathtub
May get stuck with all the rain today
Yes there is about 11 or 12 creaks to cross and it is up hill but not that bad me and my 12 yr old just hiked this trail Saturday. It was well worth it! Considering we drove almost 3 hours to do the trail i highly recommend it
Devil's fork loop trail, duffield VA
Shorts are fine.
They are opened. People usually go there to swim and see the Devils bathtub. If you have a truck or a jeep etc. , it'll be better to drive in those due to the dirt roads being uneven. It's okay.
Larry ells, water temperature is pretty awesome, everyone goes swimming ,when I jumped in last month on a sunny day is was 43 but it can fluctuate a few degrees either way
The water is seriously the coldest water I've ever felt lol
Our lab loved it! He enjoyed splashing through the creeks and remembered the trail on the way back. It wore him out and he needed a day to rest!
I was going to say it will take you an hour and change and there is a few River Crossings with shallow water. Just be careful some of the trail is shaded
Absolutely not. It's freezing. Your feet will be wet and cold for several hours. Fair warning.
it's very tricky you have to pay attention to homemade signs on the side of the road once you get close you might even have to ask a few people if you see any but there is a parking lot that you can park in and the trail starts from there.
It's not an easy hike, but its doable. And they would love it. Just give yourself time. Probably be at least 8 or 10 years old.
There's not really a parking lot or designated spot. You can park along the sides where the signs say you can. Just don't park where it tells you NOT to park. They WILL tow you. The walk there is through woods, crossing over 13 creeks (including dried up creeks). Definitely wear comfy shoes that protect your feet.
There is a waterfall pass the bathtub. It is worth it and it's very pretty. Other than that, you can either turn around after you reach the waterfall or continue pass the waterfall. If you do continue, there's nothing to see other than walking for 7 miles and yes, its a loop.
Early A.M. when parking is available and you can point your vehicle facing out...
I would not be on the mountain if it was raining. River levels can change rapidly.
No but u can camp at the natural tunnel and there is anoyher place some were by th e re u can camp on the river
If you do the long hike it's closer to 10 miles. The mile marked say 7.2 but they are off.
I doubt it. The fire department used some Razors for a rescue when we were there. There are not tracks like they are allowed and we encountered none on the trail.
Easy. Like everyone says, wear good shoes.
Not supposed to but I don't believe anyone would walk a hour to check.
I don't believe so.
I wouldnt recommend a late hike. Its a tedious trail. You need at least two good sunlight hours
Deep enough to shallow dive into at some points.
Natural tunnel state park.
You definitely should!
No camping allowed here.
It is beautiful but only about the size of a car and lots of people on weekends.
Within 1/2 hour drive, maybe longer.
Bbrrrrr, it's cold, it was in March when i went IN!! 😁😁😁
1 degree colder than damn cold.
45ish minutes
Because when you jump in it's, "cold as hell". And it is. It's 60 degree water. It'll take your breath away!
Just about 2 from the trail head to Devil's Bathtub. Devil's Fork loop trail is about 8 I believe.
