What a cool area and beautiful hike. My kids (9 & 6) had no trouble with the 1.5 mile round trip hike. We stayed for quite awhile to wade and swim in the cool cascades and various pools where the stream collected. Lots of great rocks to climb on and explore. The hike itself is fairly easy to moderate. Climbing around the steps and rocks at the waterfall itself was a bit more strenuous but our kids did fine. Would definitely recommend this area. There were several others but the area was large enough that it never felt like it was too crowded. I would highly recommend water shoes if you plan to climb around in the water.

Skinny Dip Falls Trailhead begins across the road from the Looking Glass Rock Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The area is beautiful! Within steps of the trail, you'll encounter on of the greatest trees in Western North Carolina. (You'll know it when you see it!🐉😁) Skinny Dip Falls has often been a popular swimming spot but you will find Hurricane Fred of August 2021 changed this area dramatically. The log bridge was washed away so you must rock hop across the Yellowstone Prong. I admit it is fun to scramble across the rocks after crossing the creek but PAY ATTENTION. If you look at the top of the falls, notice there is a single tree holding back the boulders field caused by the flooding.

Tropical Storm Fred devastated this area. Looks nothing like it previously did.

Well worth the short hike! Beautiful views and isn't packed like some other spots. Easy to access via parking at the Looking Glass Rock overlook. …

I will be careful on the narrow wooden bridge 20 foot length max.. rest of the trail is safe for dogs on leash..
I believe you can. There are multiple unofficial campsites there. I hope this was helpful to you
Just a name but yolo (not legal advice)
It certainly is not advertised as such. But, you can get into deep woods, so maybe no one will care.
Really depends on the level of water at the time you are there. We were just there in June and the water level was too low to jump imo.
When I went there were children that were 3 years old and up. I'm 26 and had an absolute blast. The water is chilly but very refreshing to take a swim in. I would recommend having a pair of water shoes if you do hop in as it's not a sandy bottom. The rocks aren't necessarily sharp but they are slippery. I believe it's about a mile to mile and a half hike in. An absolutely gorgeous waterfall that I would highly recommend checking out, especially if you can catch it on a sunny day
Almost certainly.
as you start walking the trail you start to think "oh my gosh this is like a serious trail, I should have better shoes" and then suddenly you're there. oh yeah, and typically there's a guy walking behind you with a baby in his arms that makes you feel really bad about ever thinking it was hard. It actually is a real hiking trail--It's a tiny section of the MTS. To prep, wear water shoes, maybe carry a towel. The water is COLD!! Oh, and there's no mobile signal, so put your phone in airplane mode and call it a camera.
There are several stairs at the end of the trail at the waterfall and "rock"stairs all along the trail. It only takes about 12- 15 minutes to get from the parking lot to the waterfall though
At the base of the falls the water is about 5ft.. and it's very refreshing
