My experience at MTI was amazing! The doctors are knowledgeable and caring. My nurse coordinator, Magaly Martial, is extraordinary. She is always helpful and friendly. I feel blessed I had the team at MTI take care of me while I had Covid from June 2022 through mid July 2022. I am a kidney transplant patient and I’m doing well. Thank you to all the amazing individuals that work at the Miami Transplant Institute!!!

Great facility for my transplant operation and immediate post operation support. After the initial 3 months following my operation my experience has been terrible and getting worse. The nurse coordinator function is clearly broken with no effective communication with post transplant patients. I still have not received any results from my tacrolimus/ everilimus retest (10 days ago) despite calling at least 5 times in the last 5 days. Blanca is my coordinator who has has been non responsive for nearly two years. Very frustrating!

Seems like a rather new facility. Was called for a 6 am appointment confirmed with the nurse but when I get here the place does not open until 815. So having driven all the way from Fort Lauderdale @ 5 am I had to wait in my car to get seen. The nurses & staff seemed friendly enough they each surprisingly said good morning as they came in. But this experience just left a bad impression on me not to mention the time I wasted for me they get zero stars (had to give 1 star because it won't allow me to continue without giving a rating)

Miami transplant institute and Jackson memorial hospital, are the greatest! My 2-year-old son had a very rare tumor that was found in his liver and bile duct, in late March. I met with the transplant team in April, and my son was already having surgery on May 1st! Dr. Tekin my son's surgeon is very honest and does not sugarcoat anything, he will be very straight forward which as a parent that’s what I wanted, honesty! I assure you he is the best of the best, from my personal experience ! Dr. Tekin also treats his patient with so much love, always with a smile on his face! dr.Tekin, and his team, were extremely informative every single step of the way! Always there to answer any concerns! They are with you every step of the way !!! EVERYONE in MTI have been so attentive during this journey. Doctors and nurses are very knowledgeable, and compassionate! . Communication, when I had a question or concern Caroline Almay Smith, the nurse practitioner who was the one I would always reach about any question . was just a call and email away, she was truly an angel because of her I think I had so much peace of Mind! She was truly amazing, very heartwarming, and treated us like family !! Surgery! My son was admitted to the hospital day before surgery, after you get admitted Tekin and his team go see you to answer any questions! Day of surgery My sons surgery was 6 hrs long! Nurses in the surgery room were constantly calling me every hour to give me an update on how everything was going ! You can imagine as a parent how anxious you feel, so they made sure to constantly update you! Recovery at the hospital! Jackson memorial hospital PICU, Transplant floor. JMH HAS the best of the best nurses, they treated my son like their own baby, very knowledgeable, and heartwarming. My son Liam was so blessed to have such a great recovery team !! 10 days down and my son is doing amazing he is Having a smooth recovery and is running around already!! My son is finally him self again in such a fast period, I don’t know how to thank Jackson memorial hospital and Miami transplant Insitute!!

Good morning! Thank you for your interest in the Miami Transplant Institute. Extensive information about the kidney program is available at https://transplant.jacksonhealth.org/programs/kidney-transplant/, and the entire team is listed at https://transplant.jacksonhealth.org/kidney-transplant-transplant-team/. The physician leaders for that service are Dr. Giselle Guerra (https://jacksonhealth.org/find-a-doctor/giselle-guerra/) and Dr. Gaetano Ciancio (https://jacksonhealth.org/find-a-doctor/gaetano-ciancio/).
