All of a sudden I love dinosaurs!?! I didn't think this would be a favorite for me, but the museum is curated so well, and the architecture is so good, that it's my new favorite. The exhibits of animals are amazing. I'm not usually a fan of taxidermy, it usually feels kind of creepy, but they are done so well at this museum. They're life-like, with such amazing detail, and the way they're set in the environment makes it feel as though you're looking at them in their natural environment. There was also a multimedia exhibit on Los Angeles under water that was really cool, with video and maps of where goals have been found. An exhibit of the history of Los Angeles was really well done as well and was engaging. Lots of interactive stuff in the Lab area for kids, and the ground are beautiful too. I probably spent about 4 hours here, and while it was enough time to see everything, I wish I had more time there.

This place was amazing!! Smaller than expected but packed with so many amazing things! Our 8 year old daughter and I, along with my husband, all enjoyed the day. Getting to see the dinosaurs was the best part. We also did the butterfly exhibit, which was amazing. You pay $8 for the butterflies and get a 30 min window for the instruction, time inside, and then making sure that no butterflies are on you as you exit. The gift shop in the butterfly exhibit was expensive. I recommend buying souvenirs inside the main museum because they are cheaper. This was seriously one of the coolest things I’ve seen. As long as you enjoy history and such, you will love it.
Jason Canlas
So much to see and worth the 15 entry fee. Parking is also 15 dollars. The butterfly exhibit is extra and we didn't pre-purchase those tickets so they were sold out when we wanted to stop by there, so we didn't do that one. The gems exhibit is amazing. The dinosaur exhibits are also great and extensive. There's an exhibit about Los Angeles as a city, but it seemed to lack details about indigenous people who lived here before the city became so big. The food options are very good in the Cafe (tasty too), but pricey (average of 10-20 per person).

I took my son to the Natural History Museum last weekend. They were having their annual Bug Exhibit! It was so interesting to see so many kinds of bugs! We loved learning things we didn't know before, even if some of the creatures are creepy! There were vendors selling all kinds of bugs, wares made from bugs, edibles made from bugs and t-shirts! We invested in some silkworms which are very hearty eaters!!! They only eat one kind of leaf, mulberry. Any other leaf will kill them. It will be exciting to see when they begin to spin their silk! We we're even able to walk in the edible garden afterward and saw some more wonderful things growing there. We can't wait for next year to see it again. As always a trip to this museum isn't complete without a walk in the Rose Garden on the way back to the parking structure!
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Yes, admission is free to this and many museums throughout California. Take advantage!
That is great. Growing up poor, I know how bad kids want and deserve to see dinosaurs, art, and science.
$15 for adults. Kids 2 and under are free
Yes, though you should avoid using the flash. The intense light can damage some of the displays over time.
Active military with ID get discounts. Veteran discounts aren't guaranteed. That being said, I have "veteran" on my drivers license and they gave me the discount (free admission) so it doesn't hurt to ask.

I meant using EBT to make purchases. The Science Center is free.

Most of the Museum is inside. The Nature Gardens, as well as seasonal pavilions (such as the upcoming Butterfly Pavilion) are located outside, on the parameter of the building.

They allow them. If you're going to one of the theaters they have a place to park them too.
Is wonderful
This museum isn't free but it's not expensive. I think it was 15 dollars when I went. The museum next door, california science center, is free and in my opinion better than the history museum.
There's a cafe in the basement. The science center next to this building has a food court and to the east there is a few restaurants.
The museum is open daily from 9:30am to 5pm. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and 4th of July.
Students get $3 discount on admission and exhibits; seniors (62+) get the same discount

It's not actually a photo booth, but they do take your picture, that's available for purchase. It's on a green screen

On saturdays , they seem to be closing the butterfly garden. You may want to check the weekend hours.
And
They suggest you wear a face mask and three weeks ago they still asked for evidence of a vaccine
I used my ebt card and me and my family of 6 were able to go in right when they opened.
We are no longer requiring proof of vaccination or negative test for entry into the Museum. Additionally, admission is free for L.A. Residents with proof of address (such as a bill or CA ID), every day from 3pm - 5pm.

Allison Shultz (Assistant Curator, Ornithology) says, "It is actually due to how crows socialize in different seasons. In winter, crows form large flocks (or murders!) at night, possibly for warmth. Now that it is spring, breeding is their main concern, so they tend to hang out in pairs for waiting and raising chicks." Hope this helps!

You can go to

I went there last week. Parking is $12 for everyone, flat fee. They do not have free parking unfortunately. There is also a fee to visit the Natural History Museum but prices are reasonable and well worth the visit. Same parking fee if you go to the California Science center next door ( $12 parking) except that the California Science Center has free admission. Some people park outside in the streets but I would recommend parking directly there and paying because it is safer. Some places around Exposition Park are not the best areas to park a car.
$15 for adults and $7 for children
Yes there is but due to some construction u will have to park by the science center if the natural history museum lot is full. It cost about 12 dollars.

The free day is Tuesday. I went that day, even though I had kindly paid the people who received me the tickets, they made the process to return what I had paid
Yes to both questions
It is a benefit card for buying food, which was previously known as food stamps.
In California, ebt can only be used on food and select necessities. I can't say whether or not the museum will accept it, but it would be better if you went on the first Tuesday of the month, when general admission is free
$15 Adults; $12 Seniors, Students with ID, Youth ages 13-17, $7 ages 3-12, free for children 2 & under.
Yes, if they open on Saturdays and Sundays, the price for adults is 15 dls, senior is 12, students 12 and children 7dls, Science is free or if you like to leave a donation is excellent, the Museum has extrasa exhibition with extra cost too . What varies depends on the exhibition you want.
It will be at the science center, not at the natural history museum. But that's right next door!
Mos of the science center exhibits are free. You need to pay for the IMAX and a few select exhibits. All the information can be found on there website, but if you give them a call thats the quickest way to find out.
$15 for adults, $12 for senior, and $7 for kids (ages 3-12)
The first Tuesday of the month is free. I would call the museum to see what age is free for kids if any. Also, the science center right next door is always free with a small donation. Have fun!
At the Natural History Museum I believe they're having something called summer nights in the garden. I believe they have a calendar you can also check what other activities they might have going on.
I believe they do carry Aaron's breastplate where the gems and stones are located it would be called Chrysolite/Chrysalis...
No. You can buy tickets there.
Yes, there are water fountains that you can refill your botttle at. You can get your hand stamped and eat on the park grounds if you like.
3 hours and you'll be beat. I recommend going right when they open before the masses arrive. You'll thank me.
Yes, they will be on holiday hours closing around 5:30 pm.
It's located next to the coliseum across from the University. It's not too big and It cost $12.
On Sundays it is also the same price
Natural History Museum Is Not Free Unfortunately.
I believe the admission for adults is $15 and for kids 3 and older it's $7. They also have certain exhibits, like the tattoo exhibit, where you do have to pay a little extra at admissions, but the purchase of that is optional.
Only service dogs may enter the museum. Pets and emotional support animals do not qualify as service dogs, and therefore, are not allowed inside the premises.
It is a museum, not a place for pets. I suspect it is service dogs only.
It costs $ 15
The two are sister museums and so a membership will count for both, but not a regular admission or free museum day pass. Plus there's a significant distance between them.
I believe they are open 9:30 to 5pm every day except for New Year's, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Hope this helps!
No
The first Tuesday of every month is free, except July and August. Basic admission is as David Smith said. Basic admission does not include the butterfly pavilion or the traveling exhibit (currently that's the tattoo exhibit). There's also the California Science Center, which is in the same park as the Natural History Museum and is free except for the Space Shuttle exhibit and their traveling exhibit.
Your entry is definitely free. I think your children are also free. But I'm not sure. You can call the museum and ask.
Not sure but check on their website
Adult is $15 Student/Senior and children 13-17 are $12 Children 3+12 are $7 There is parking on the north side of the museum for $12 or directly across the street on Bill Ronertson Ln. (I believe that lot is much cheaper, and thera never a long line to enter) You can also find all kinds of discounts online and from partners, but there never more than a few dollars so its not usually worth the headache of dealing with a third party.
Teachers get in free with family as long as you have the id
Standard adult admission is $12, or $20 to add the featured exhibit. Students/military/seniors/youth get in for $9/$17, and children for $5/$9 They also have a membership program with a yearly fee ($59) for unlimited free visits.
Unfortunately no. Disney cast members dont get any discounts.
