Absolutely worth the trip. World class garden. Huge. The cactus garden was unbelievably beautiful as were the Japanese and Chinese gardens. The jungle section was pretty cool too. We didn't have time to see any of the museums because we were too busy with the gardens. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

What a beautiful property! We purchased tickets for a Saturday about a week and a half ahead of time. We purchased for 10AM, which is when they open to non-members. Parking is free, but can fill up quickly. Definitely bring water and snacks, this place is gigantic and can be a trek back to the coffee shop and restaurants. We enjoyed it so much, we became members.

The Boone Gallery is my favorite Gallery here! The gardens are wonderful. It definitely has a corporate feel now that it is not owned by the family. I love the succulent varieties here. The Japanese garden is getting a wonderful renovation to the tea house! I really can't wait!

This place is beautiful. Even on a day full of rain and cold weather we absolutely loved walking through and exploring everything this place has to offer. Plenty of plant scenery with a nice mixture of architecture, sculptures, and the galleries in between. The shop was fun to walk through and the coffee place had surprisingly delicious hot chocolate! Whether you have a few hours or a good chunk of the day to use you can definitely enjoy spending it here.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
We were just there recently and I didn't see any place to rent motorized carts.
No handicap tours unfortunately. If you have your own motorized scooter, I highly recommend bringing it bc that place is big and they only have wheelchair rentals. You can do a self-guided tour using the Bloomberg app!
I held my sister’s bridal shower there about 6 years ago. There were about 10 of us. The host became very upset with us when we started opening gifts, saying we couldn’t perform activities in the tea room. He said we were disruptive and kept hovering around our table. The other patrons told him we were ok and not being noisy. It was so awkward and uncomfortable. To this day, my sister references it when we talk about her bridal shower. Felt like a complete failure.
The Blue Boy is being restored through Sept. 2019. The public can observe the conservation work as it is underway in the gallery.
Service animals permitted! You are to inform security of your service animal and what it does. Pets must remain in the vehicle if you bring them so DON'T bring them in even if they are in a carry on of some sort like a backpack or cart! Security will turn them away. If your animal is seen leaving droppings on site, you will be asked to leave! Service animals are trained and droppings damage the Huntington gardens and also do not look pleasing to other visitors
They're students eih ID...$21 workday. $24 wkends. Check free day Thursday once a month. With advance tix purchase
Corpse Flower has a span of 24 hours once it opens! There is no specified time period of when a corpse flower blooms, they choose their own time to shine (or stink)!
There is no cover charge but the cost of tickets are Adults 19-64 $25 Children 4-11 $13 Seniors 65+ $21
The Huntington is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Independence Day
You have to pay for entry but should be able to take pics.. call the venue for confirmation
First Thursdays of each month but you have to reserve the ticket ahead of time
They don't have a time reservation set up. However, if you want to avoid the wait in line, buy them online. All of my visits there I bought my tickets online and it was easier. If you are interested in free day you need to plan a month ahead as tickets for this day go very quickly. You can call them for tips about the free day. Tip: make a reservation at Tea Room for free day. This option bypasses the wait time; includes admission and you can go any time before your reservation. Also great experience!
Cingrats on your upcoming quincerena. They have a no photo shoot sign at entrance. I would contact the venue to see if special permit needed. Such a gorgeous lication
10 am to 5pm, closed Tuesdays
Hours and Admission Open Wed.-Mon., 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Closed Tuesdays. Closed July 4, Thanksgiving (Nov. 25), Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (Dec. 24 & 25), and New Year's Day (Jan. 1, 2022).
It does offer the discount but you’d have to call for exact price. Regular admission is about $25-29
We had an assigned time. We were a few minutes early.
Well if you mean the buildings no. Most of the dining and special expositions that happen indoors are closed. All of the gardens and open spaces are open as well as the cafeteria and the gift shop
Yes, especially Japanese and Chinese gardens are perfect spots for eating snacks and enjoying the view!
To be honest, I'm not sure about that. I'll ask them next time I visit the place.
They have it available in the store as of February 2020
Consult maps...depends on what kind of plants you'd like to see.
Presidential proclamation to have flag at half staff in honor of Senator John McCain dispite political differences
Yes.. you either have to have an annual membership, or you have to purchase a one-day admission ticket to the grounds. Personal ID must be sbown for those who have annual memberships.
Perfect for kids. They'll enjoy nature and get exercise too.
The last two of the #TitanTriplets bloomed on Aug 21st. The blooms only last for about 36 hours.
The 2nd phase of the Chinese Garden to extend it broke ground this summer.
Full time Students with ID do get a discount on one day tickets. $21.00 for weekdays and $24.00 for weekends/holidays. I do not know of any student discount for the annual membership plans.
Adults 19-64 $25 Children 4-11 $13 Seniors 65+ $21 They offer Free Day 2nd Thursday each month; a reservation is required. They open reservations first week of month and they sell very quickly. Plan ahead.
Not recommended to bring dogs other than service dogs. Even then please double check the website.. May need to register the service dog.
Per website: Food and picnicking is not permitted on the grounds, however there is a small area adjacent to the parking lot where you may eat food you have brought before you enter. Dining is available in our café or tea room.
Me too
Professional photoshoots are not allowed. If you're suspected of doing so you will most likely be stopped by security
Yes
It would depend on wbat you mean by alot. Encourage you to grab a map of the gardens upon entry - there were restrooms in almost every building, that said, there are a limited amount of buildings in the gardens themselves.
Hi, the ticket is also good for the botanical gardens and everything there is.
I'm guessing no. We were just there recently and I didn't see any place to rent strollers. And also not a good idea because of COVID.
The Huntingron Digital Library includes.a 1912 photo of Verdugo Park, Glendale.
Huntington states prices on their website. Yes, they give small discount for Seniors $21 weekdays, and $24 week ends.
It seems only service animals are allowed in. I saw no dogs on my visits.
It's not required
You have to go to the official website to apply, it seems to be free on the first Thursday of every month
Check with the Huntington but I believe the London exhibit of the work ends in January and so ny inference the painting should be back soon
The art museum and gardens are open. During the week you can purchase entry at arrival. Weekends it is recommended to purchase online ahead of time.
We saw everything but the tea room open
We saw on their website that masks were not required outdoors, but required indoors at every building. And that's what we saw when we went
Questions such as this are answered at the website.
I was just there last weekend, they made everyone order Reservations online before entering
you are the curator- Suzhou Garden
Don't wait, plenty of things to enjoy. You wouldn't finish it in a single day. I visited it for a day during the pandemic and realized that I couldn't see it in one day then decided to get the annual pass. After multiple visits, I haven't seen everything yet.
$25 for adults $21 for seniors 65 and older. 1st Thursday is free day, but you have to apply on the last Thursday of the month. BTW. It's worth the entrance fee
Yes, but i advice to have something to eat before you come to the library. The sandwich that i got cost $15.99 and it was a turkey sandwich no drink, salad or fruit included. The edges of the sandwich i had to throw away because it was super hard.
Last I remember I don't think so. But I'd definitely call to be sure. I do know however you can do pictures and possibly a wedding at the Arcadia Arboretum
It is not hard to simply make reservations online. We too were members for years. You can still go as much as you like by choosing when you are going. I have had no problem going when I want. Every two weeks it is regressed new time slots for next two weeks but even within that two weeks you can still get in. If you have the type of pass that allows you in early to the gardens, you can still do that. You just need to have reservations for that day! Just explore the website. It's not difficult. It is keeping the crowds small and everyone safe. They are doing a tremendous job at the Huntington. There is no going back. There is only going forward.
Huntington.org
No, because of covid you will need to call and get a reservation.
Don't bring kids to it
I don't have an answer but that's a good question for the arborists at the garden.
For Grab n Go foods, all of them are made and ready on the spot. The only thing you'll have to wait on is if you want food from the grill.
You can take as many pictures as you want. The tickets need to be bought in advance as they limit number of people. Another option is to buy membership. Check out the website for the info.
https://www.huntington.org/plan-your-visit This page has the information you need. April 6 is the next time you can reserve tickets for the following 2 weeks.
Comfortable walking shoes are best. Right now the art museums and library exhibit rooms are closed. So everyone is simply walking the gardens - quite an extensive walk! (On hilly terrain)
The news stations are saying April 17. For more info Google: huntington art galleries reopen
According to the Huntington their new opening date is April 17, 2021. The gardens are currently open just not the museum
Yes
Hi Deysi, no you can't you can bring drinks :)
Advance reservations are required and only the gardens are open. Galleries will remain closed.
Not now. You must have a ticket. Go to their website...
I think so. But perhaps call and ask. The phone number is on the web site I'm sure.
I had never seen anyone on a bike in the garden. Don't think they are allowed. There are lots of bike racks just outside entrance to lock up bicycle while you enjoy the gardens. Good restaurants on site. A little pricey but delicious and restful in outdoor dining.
There ia a charge for entry tickets, except on the 'free days'. Look at the website for the schedule.
Picnicking is not allowed in the gardens themselves. More information is available here: https://www.huntington.org/plan-your-visit
1919 café is open serving a delicious selection of grab-and-go options, snacks, and beverages including wine and beer. 1919 café is open only for guests visiting the gardens with advance reservations. No picnicking is allowed on the grounds. If you bring food, there are a limited number of outdoor tables available. No outside alcoholic beverages.
Yes but you have to reserve tickets online
Anna Hyatt Huntington, 1922
Definitely have lunch at 1130am or after 130pm to avoid the rush is attending on the weekends! Very good food and lots of options
I do not know however; there are events year round. Rather than just an isolated one.
Incredible collection of antique books in the library. Also a wonderful art collection. Antique furniture. The library sits on a beautiful landscape up against the San Gabriel mountains filled with statues and vast botanical gardens Chinese and Japanese gardens.
https://www.huntington.org/dining
It is open. https://www.huntington.org/events/open-new-years-day And the New Year's Brunch is quite good.
https://www.huntington.org/project-blue-boy According to the website the Blue Boy is in phase 3. My guess is that you can view the painting within the listed times of phase 3.
It will be removed from display in September and will undergo another 4 + months of restoration in the restoration department.
No food from outside is allowed in. They have picnic tables outside the entrance. Having said that, they do not search you anymore so you can sneak stuff in with little difficulty.
Note that the fee is higher on the weekend then it is on weekdays.
$29 for adults, less for kids, students and seniors.
If it's just a guy taking photos of you with a camera and not much else I think it would be ok. But if you have a photographer with equipment and staging a photo session then you should check with them first. Better that than getting kicked out!
10am-5pm. For adults it's a $29 entry fee (worth every penny!), less for kids/students/seniors.
They're are complimentary wheelchairs available.
Only service animals
It's worth the ticket entrance. Pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful gardens!
Absolutely free 🌻🍃
An outstanding succulent garden. Over 100 years old. Hundreds of varieties
1, never thought about this problem 2, flowers and take care of very well, I even saw a hummingbird sucking honey ~ very lucky 3, the type of cactus varieties may cover the world
Not sure but I don't see why not
♥ Please ask on the official website, usually it will be needed ♥ The scale of the entire park and the services involved are many, I feel they will welcome "volunteer service personnel"
Yes, you do. I would recommend that you consult the website.
We did not see any picnics while we were there. The 1919 grill has a terrific variety of healthy food. We did see quite a few young families eating or snacking on the benches. You will have to relinquish your water bottles upon museum and art collection exhibits. The grounds are beautiful and every place has a purpose.
Yes. Find hours and prices at https://www.huntington.org/hours-admission
No permit needed. You're allowed to take pictures
It depends on the garden, but there are plenty of paved places. 😊
Membership starts at $159 for a year. https://buy.acmeticketing.com/membership/336/join
The food is good and available to the public, if the membership fee is paid.
Hm.. if you have only one back, how can you carry more than one backpack?
I think so
Every day is a good day.
No, you can not. You can bring strollers, wheelchairs, and electric wheelchairs. Not all sections are easily wheel friendly.
depends on weekday or weekend and adult child student: Adult $25/$29 Senior (65+) $21/$24 Student (f/t ID) $21/$24 Youth (4-11) $13 Child (under 4) free
Depends on your definition of High Tea. There were lots of tea options, sweets, and tea sandwhich options but not a luxurious spread by 'traditional victorian high tea' standards. It all looked lovely and delicious, but it more in the spirit of high tea than a full traditional one. Reservations are encouraged just because they get very busy at top tourist times or on good weather days.
We spent a solid 8 hours and could ha e easily spent another 3-4 more. But we had a mixture of people who enjoy art, history, literature, plant, and walking. If you're only interested in one of those things or only passingly interested in a few of them then it could comfortably be a 2-4 hour trip.
You'll have to call to find out.
This information will be on their website.
Event photography may require a permit. call them
It's a temple bell. There's more info about it on this page: https://www.huntington.org/garden-sculptures-fountains
No, but they have a nice restaurant on site with outdoor seating - to enjoy the sights.
Yes. Decorations have been up
You don't need be a member to go in, but you need to pay for an entrance admission.
Free Day is the first Thursday of every month... but you must go on line at 9:00 AM on the first day of the previous month to get them. Supply is very limited, so they run out within a minute or two of 9:00 AM.
Call them We're not staff.
Their website will list that information.
It's a long list: http://huntington.org/hours. They also have a free day: http://huntington.org/hours/#free
They do have signs saying no professional photography though.
It was $25 each when we went in May. I think it was different price for children 12 and under. they do have free days. I'm not sure about military discounts
Afternoon Tea $65 for Wedgewood $85 for Royal
There is no storage at Huntington. However you could call them and ask if they will hold your carry on at reception area.
I do not know. You have to check in once you arrive in order to get your entry pass.
Have been on 3 occasions...had never seen any. Can't imagine they would. Service animals I suspect.
Check their website for this info. If they are closed for holiday or special event it will be stated there.
I have 4 free tickets for Thursday, July 5th at 10am. 1st come 1st served
Yes there are. I read that they have more than 50000 trees here!
Check their website for information on current cost and benefits.
Yes. The first Thursday of every month. But tickets are still required that day. Tickets will be grabbed on their website at 9 am on the first day of the previous month. Tickets are usually gone quickly. So be fast.
You may have your wedding photos taken here but you need to make reservation. You may use your own photographer or theirs. If you want more specific info Google "Weddings Huntington Library", there will be a page with phone numbers and emails to wedding planners.
I would like to purchase a Joshua Bradley Hybrid Tea rose bush. Is this rose currently available, anywhere?
The Sustaining Membership is $159 per year. Good for 2 named adults and their children under 18.
The only special offer I'm aware of is the first Thursday of the month. it is free admittance. Other than that it's full admission unless you are a student or a senior. I would advise that you check Huntington. Org and click on the VISIT tab.
You can take your wedding photos there even if you're not getting married there. More info can be found by Googling weddings Huntington Library. There's an email address there to get specific questions answered.
Yes it is! Just scope out a spot off the path and you'll be undisturbed.
You HAVE to go online to reserve your ticket. Or be stuck in line all day and you might not even get in, because of the influx from spring breakers
Well there are very wonderful exhibitions to see which you're indoors. But you have to walk through a lot of wet Garden to get to it. It really depends on what you're looking for. Do you want the Outdoor Experience of the gardens, which are exquisite. Or do you want to focus on your art. Hope that helps you.
They are against their policy. But a monopod/walking stick should not be a problem.
Free days are on first Thursday of every month. You need to make a reservation in advance. They accept them on first but they "sell out" fast so you need to reserve your spot early in the day. Good luck
Generally you will receive a letter or an email about renewal.
First Thursday of each month. You have to make reservation
We had 1/2 day with the tour group we traveled with. It was enough for a good overview of this huge place, but not nearly enough to see most of it.
Would be much better if you would CALL the Huntington Gardens. I doubt any local guide would know the answers to these questions. You are reaching a free community of "critics" not the Huntington.
There are a number of other wonderful restaurants now on the property. I am a big fan of the 1900 Cafe. However if you really do want to go to the Tea Room I would recommend a reservation
A single regular tripod shouldn't be a problem in most outdoor areas, but do check with the staff at the entrance.
Not that I am aware of, but check their website for more information.
Only service animals are allowed. Visitors with a registered service animal are allowed in all public areas.
The only vending machines at the Huntington are in the staff work areas, and not available to the visiting public.
The main restaurant is really nice. Well worth the price.
They do rent out areas of the museum for weddings and other festivals
You can find the information at their website but it is 10 to 5
Free first Thursday each month with reservation. 25 adult general admission. 21 seniors 65+. Kids 12 and under 13.
You've confused the Huntington with some other library. Perhaps Huntington Beach? We don't have a mobile component to our work.
You have to make a reservation. You can call them or go online one week ahead of time. They go quickly so sometimes you have to wait a month to get your spot. Good luck.
Yes
First Thursday every month free for all. There is discount for seniors though
$12. Free first Thursday every month
