Tip to take a photo from Hollywood sign is go to Canyon Lake Drive, one of the best place to see the Hollywood Sign. There are a green area perfect to have picnics, and panoramic views. The exact street address of the location is 3000 Canyon Lake Drive, Hollywood. Enter this address on Google Maps to get driving directions.

After having lunch and the Beachwood Cafe (highly recommended!!!) we went for a great walk up to the Hollywood sign. It was a warm day however was well worth the truck up. You can’t get up in front of the sign but you can get up right behind the sign. There are ample opportunities for you to take photos on the way up where the sign is very clear. If you could do it I would say go all the way to the top, the view is absolutely rewarding and it is 360° We passed several people however the walk up is not crowded. Make sure you bring lots of water on a hot day!

Beautiful scenic 3 or 4 mile hike round trip to reach the top of the sign. There are plenty of places beforehand to see the sign from up front. The hike is not steep. Parking can be tricky, my recommendation is to park near Hollywood Lake park and walk up, this adds to the total time about 20/30 minutes but it’s well worth saving yourself a ticket. The earlier you can make it, the better.

Park at Griffith Observatory to hike to the Hollywood sign, free parking in the morning until maybe 10AM if I remember correctly. Trails are VERY POORLY marked, better have a good sense of direction, not many places to stop to pee so you have been warned....I suppose must people have cell phone navigation but I am not in the 21 century yet. A large portion of land near the sign was added to the park thanks in part t a rather large donation from the Hugh Hefner Foundation.

Grifith observatory, walk of fame, santa monica peir, universal studios, lots of good food too
There's a couple of different ways to get to the Hollywood sign. Probably the easiest/fastest is to drive all the way up beachwood; park and then you'll find a trail that leads up to a spot where you can get nice pictures from a few hundred feet away. If you MUST get closer you can continue on your hike up toward the radio station until the trail leads you to a road - follow that road and eventually you'll be standing directly behind the Hollywood sign. Another way is to hike there from the Griffith Observatory (if you know where the trail is). And you can also hike there from the Burbank side by taking the old road which used to lead up to the landfill (the road is closed now so there's no cars but you can still walk it). Once you're standing directly behind the sign you can follow the fence walking West, the fence ends; you can hike a little further and be standing directly in front of it. The hike can take anywhere from five minutes to five hours depending on where you start.
Actually, it was. In 1949, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce began a contract with the City of Los Angeles Parks Department to repair and rebuild the sign since it had been damaged in the recent earthquake. The contract stipulated that "LAND" be removed to spell "Hollywood".
There's a gate at the very end of Deronda Dr. In the Hollywood hills. Its street parking only but the hike up to the sign is about an hour. Definitely worth the effort.
About 4.5 miles one way from the Observatory, I then cut down further into the park and found the original Batcave, worth checking out if you can.
1 hour or more. It's a long and strong way always uphill.
illegal to climb to the sign legal to climb around it
Best of luck to you Ashley!
Yes you can there are many trails.
They sell maps to the stars homes at Hollywood & Highland and there's an open air tour bus that will take stalkers like you and J Wifi past their houses. Edit: Had you been at Universal Studios two days ago (10/31/19) you might have seen her. In fact if you came at all you might have seen her. She came in for HHN and kept coming back but we have celebrities here every day (I work at Universal).
The real estate development launched in late March of 1923
Hey! :-) The idea came from H. J. Whitley. The implementation was carried out by the brokerage firm Woodruff and Shoults.
There is not a defined hour, although I would recommend going between 4 and 7 in the afternoon, you will have incredible photos;
Sadly, I do not believe so, as everything is rough terrain, and 5 miles one way hike.
The beach and inlets and bays make up the western part of the san diego ."mission bay" if very fun lots to do
No physical access, police show up with helicopters
Yes, you are still able to hike to the sign, as of yesterday the park was still open. Get there early as parking does get full. People wear masks.
Nops ...it is a proper observatory park for astrological purpose....with a small museum kind of building as well
Griffith Park, Venice, Santa Monica. But I would be careful...it is haunted! I went there once!😵 check out my video on youtube and u can see what I mean
It is interesting and historical. There are sketchy people like everywhere. At the Mans Chinese Theatre or other touristy places the people who dress up as characters will expect you to tip if you want to take a picture with them. Read all parking signs very well because they will tow your car if you're not supposed to be parked there. Otherwise everything is very cool, interesting and fun.
It all depends what you are looking for. You can find a lot of interesting fun stuff. Or you can go on the deap end and spend a lot of money. What are you looking to do?
Theresa, thank you. That's where we ended up going and it was perfect!
There is free public parking around the hike. Here is the address: 6301 INNSDALE DRIVE, LOS ANGELES
Try to look at the area from a different side. My suggestion is for you to go to Griffith Park to get the best view of the Hollywood sign and Los Angeles County.
There is a park you can drive to. Its called lake hollywood park. Its also a nice park. Gives great view of sign without going through some of thr neighborhoods. The neighbors are not always pleasnant and have blocked roads with barriers that look official.
Doesn't cost anything. You can hike to the top to get a view from just above it or you can just drive through residential streets to get to the bottom of the hill to get a picture (not as close). I hike there all the time from the Wisdom Tree hike near Lake Hollywood.
The original Hollywoodland sign was built as advertisement for the surrounding neighborhood.
That is the best route ... only if you want to go to this place ... you will have to walk a good time ...
Most likely from 5-6am until 9-10 pm
Put in your GPS, Getty location, and on the way there you'll figure it out, they're many trails once you reach the mountain.
Origin. The sign was erected in 1923 and originally read "HOLLYWOODLAND" to promote the name of a new housing development in the hills above the Hollywood district of Los Angeles. ... Below the sign was a searchlight to attract more attention. The poles that supported
There is a person who sells water just below the deronda gate entrance. His house is next to the white house with the flat roof, adjacent to the green gate. He is usually in his carport conducting his business. You might give him a try.
Of course, if you fight for it You will be 👍🏼 Now remember you promised I hope to see you in a movie in a future no to far
Well... I have seen some Gastly and Duskull around there... so maybe
You can't go up to the sign itself now ... but from that area there are good photos and you get there well. Eye we go up there by car
Yes, this is really the area😆😆👍👍
9 ( nine )
There are places in neighbourhood where you can take a nice picture, but you have to drive around to find it.
Yes kid friendly, you can drive pretty close to sign but if your family enjoys hiking it will bring you to the best view
I believe it's the city who helps maintain it. They give the letters a bit of a spruce every few years.
There are trails around it but no houses.
yes, you can see it
There is no such. It is a park but the sign is closed to the public. It can be seen from a distance of half a mile maybe
It's a dirt road mostly, so a stroller should be fine. Depending on where you park and how long you spend at the top, probably 3 to 4 hours.
I don't know, you have to take that to Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Called the world cinema capital in America. Where there are film studios, related services including world-class entertainment tours. Avenue of stars, imprinted stars and people who contributed to the cinema.
Since a longue time ! People changed its name. It was not its first name !!
If you park at "Lake Hollywood Park" parking is free. The address is 3160 Canyon Lake Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90068
Caminando
You can't get too close, but there is a road where you can take pictures
I was kinda disappointed!? I thought it would be alot nicer than it was! Depends on what you like to do??? The stars on the sidewalk was pretty cool, just takes you back to people who have been forgotten. Beautiful views at the observation point, but a little bit of a hassel to get to. I suggest Venice Beach &/or East LA, pretty crazy but well worth the people watching part of our trip
Sorry I didn't know Spanish
Not really. The trail is right up against the slope, and there are lots of folks on the trail... Sorry!
I said it in one of my commentary
Obviously not in the city but it is put in a point that can be read from Hollywood
No that I know...
Actually there isnt ban at location
From lake Hollywood park.
Go to the Griffith observatory and you can hike an easy 1mile slope to the Hollywood sign
You already have the answer. Its more like a hill than a mountain
Hello good night, I was in Los Angeles in the month of October 2018 and I can tell you that contrary to what you might think is an extremely expensive city for a tourist is not like that ... there are places of food, shops and hotels fairly accessible that are of very good quality; obviously there are extremely expensive places but in general a tourist can stay without problem. Another thing that is excellent in Los Angeles is transportation. Initially I was determined to rent a vehicle but I gave up because all the places I had planned to visit during my 7 day stay, it was enough to use the subway. I went to most tourist places in Los Angeles, Hollywood and Beverly Hills using the Metro, which cost me $ 25 with the card that I used for a month and with no travel limit. In general, Los Angeles and its surroundings seemed like a really beautiful city that is definitely worth knowing. Regards!
You have heard of Google right? Anyway, this is an excerpt from one of the articles. Local artist Zachary Cole Fernandez, 30, was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor trespassing, The Guardian reports. Police had not previously confirmed his involvement.

I do not speak Spanish. Sorry.

Next time use Google is much easy for find your question https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Sign
I think it used to be. Read about the history of the sign. Lots of interesting stuff to know!
The sign is a sign that spells out Hollywood. Hollywood Hills is a neighborhood in the hills above Hollywood. :) The sign is also near Lake Hollywood, which is near one trailhead that will take you behind the sign and also past the wisdom tree. You can also be in front of the sign but further away up Beachwood.:)
Some folks start early about 8am in the morning from Bronson Canyon Park. You can also start from the other trail heads in Griffith Park. I would suggest avoiding the neighborhood starting points.
Los Angeles is not a cheap city, but really how much you are going to spend depends on your budget and the activities you do. To get to the Hollywood sign you can do it walking (it's long) or by car to a certain point, then you'll have to walk and they do not charge you for the photo, you go with your camera or phone and take the photo
Many think taking a picture of the coveted sign is the best way to see Hollywood, but the true view is from the sign. Hollywood itself is very walkable, integrated, of course, with everything you think of when you think of Hollywood (i.e star walk). Hollywood is really nice for someone who wants to walk around and sort of self discover.
Yes
We walked up. There is a service gate but it was locked. From the gate it took about an hour to get to the top but the view was definitely worth it!
The Sign itself is at the top of a long trail, which is also at the top of a slow busy drive and more walking. Nothing much around. So prepare as if going on a short hike. Water, snacks, ect. If you want to just see the sign I'd suggest picking a lower vantage point/cross street and get your pictures. Otherwise it's a half day at least when its busy.
From Hollywood boulevard you can take the photo
In front of it
2927 Cannon Drive is where I got dropped off. This was a semi challenging hike to the back of the sign. We walked to the front view also. The accomplishment I felt for doing this hike was off the charts.
Yes. It's about a 3 mile hike round trip. But be careful where you park. Might get a ticket from parking enforcement if you park where permits are used.
There is no dedicated parking for the Hollywood sign. Designated parking is available at Griffith park or street parking around Canyon or Beachwood. Please be respectful of the neighborhood.
You should park the car and hike to the griffit observatory couple of miles, remember to stay hydrated and enjoy.
You can hike to the back of the Hollywood sign, and it tales about 1.5- 2 hours depending on your speed.
Mount Lee
Forget hiking when you can go to lake Hollywood park and get a perfect shot of the Hollywood sign. And stay safe at the same time
Yes! For more info follow me in Instagram @viajero_intermitente
The park sign states dawn to sunset if u are going to 6700 Mulholland Hwy location
There are a few different paths depending how much time you have. I suggest googling the trails to determine which path is shortest or easiest.
Renting a car or taking a Lyft or Uber is easiest
Palm trees grow there naturally, but there's lots of them because people like them & plant them everywhere. 🌴
Its an easy hike for the most part. Just follow the signs and youll end up right above the sign (roughly 6 metres - 18 feet) . The sign is fenced off but you can see the individual letters.
Tell me your email id please! Am into this i'll help you out
You can get a pic from below (close enough to get a good pic of the sign), but really close to the letters is almost impossible, it's prohibited and there are some fences
direction is relative. we need a starting point sir
You can drive close and walk up the trails but you can't get close enough to touch it..You will need a permit to get that close.
There's a great Thai...right on Barham and Lakewood Terrace. Forgot the name but it's really good
I read it was originally created as a Real Estate's advertisement
Griffith Observatory
Yes
Its on the side of the hill. You can see it from various locations along the road and there is parallel parking on the side of the road.
There has been several people give there life away near there .
Park at the Griffith observatory and walk to the sign.
The Dodgers Stadium,In-n-out,The Hollywood Sign,The Hollywood Walk of Fame,The wax Museum in Hollywood, Six Flags,Hurricane Harbor
The sign was created as a real-estate advertisement. By1923 Los Angeles Times publisher Harry Chandler had decided to invest in an upscale real-estate development called Hollywoodland, which capitalized on the growing recognition of Hollywood as a movie-industry mecca.
No
All day they can go
Find an agent to represent you and get acting lessons
The Griffith Park is said to have ghosts and a curse. I went there to explore around 2 years ago at night, saw nothing. It might just be a rumour
You can view the sign from Griffith Observatory, not as close as if you park in a neighborhood and hike to it. Google best ways view hollywood sign.
The Griffith Observatory has a nice trail up to the sign. Beautiful first thing in the morning, and a really nice hike from the observatory.
I didn't see any ghosts, but I did see quite a few creepy looking peoples.
The original Hollywoodland sign was built in 1923, so 94 years in 2017.
As long as your not looking to become a writer and spell correctly it might work out
It depends on where you'll be hiking from. Hike from the observatory (not much of a hike, more like a walk.). If you hike from the wisdom tree (west of Hollywood sign) you're going to have a bad time.
Yes but It is a very long hike {6-8 miles}. The shortest hike is from Beachwood Drive. However, you have to check if the entrance is still open as there were plans by the city to close it permanently.
Up to the top the only way is walking ... you can leave your car a few streets down
Canyon lake drive, I found this drive best for capturing the Hollywood sign. Just type canyon lake drive on Google maps and it will take you there.. it is up hills and you need to parallel park there .. so make sure you are good at that.. not at all tough just letting the readers know.
Yes....hiking is the only way
No, you don't need tickets, you just hike up to the mountain and go throught the allowed area
No, it is fenced off but if you go behind you'll be about 10 feet away from the sign.
