You can view the sign from Griffith Observatory, not as close as if you park in a neighborhood and hike to it. Google best ways view hollywood sign.

We had seen it from the Griffiths but if you have your own vehicle you can get closer to the sign. You can park your vehicle and go walking but not too close!!!

To walk to the sign is difficult but you can view it from the observatory or from Hollywood blvd. Google best path as I'm sure there may be restrictions. You may be able to hike a different canyon and get it in the background
