The Conservancy recently signed a contract with a real estate company to do a feasibility study of various scenarios. Last summer I had the opportunity of touring this Great Ship, what an experience, even tough the interior had been stripped. Still a Grand Ole Gal!!!
I hadn't heard anything recently about current ideas for restoration but I'm happy to read Barry Hantman's post reply stating the Conservancy signed a contract with a real estate company to perform a feasibility study on various scenarios ! And I'm happy to see Mr. Hantman was able to tour the ship this past Summer! I'm guessing it was the same tour my brother & sister went on --- Memorial Day weekend? I have pictures posted of that tour. Spectacular! I've personally sailed on the S.S.United States back in 1967 from Southampton,England to New York City harbor. I just sent the Conservancy a donation again after reading the post about this feasibility study --- I pray this Grand Ole Gal as Mr. Hantman so aptly calls her is brought up to at least something close to the grandeur she once was!
I hope so we're we keep up-to-date on it
