I work at the shipyard where the SS United States is docked it's definitely amazing to look especially when you know it's history.

Sad This is Our History

It's sad that it's getting so rotten.

Certainly a shame that we cannot tore it, I think they should open it up for a bed-and-breakfast wouldn't that be cool

Yep, but I believe they should turn the ship into an artificial reef, the ship couldn't even float if not for the donations of people.

I had family sail on her. She is part of my family's history. I wish I could see her and tuch what my family had tuched years ago.

My mother took us three children over to Europe on this liner in 1964. I was 5 years old and remember it so well. Salt water pool, huge dining rooms. Very nice staff.

We emigrated to US in 1958 and went out on SS United States. Have some lovely photos of an Easter party (I was 4) and arriving in New York..it was such an exciting time...we actually came back tovUK after few months.
