I have read that if you donate at least $1,000.00 to the SS United States Conservancy then they will give you a tour. Go on Facebook and look up SS United States Conservancy, give the page a like, and then send them a message. Edit: I would also like to add that it costs them $90,000.00 a month just to keep the ship from being scrapped so your $1,000 would definitely help towards that!
My brother & sister went on a reservation only special tour just 3 weeks ago --- family members of the Captain & Crew participated along with former passengers --- they got to spend many hours exploring the ship including the engine room, CrowsNest, many of the different decks, movie theater, etc. Quite an intimate gathering --- my brother & sister can be seen in the picture I submitted in my review holding up an S.S.United States pennant, one of a few our family bought on the voyage we took crossing the Atlantic from Southampton, England to NYC back in 1967... My brother mentioned possible future tours --- I'm not sure exactly how he became aware of this particular tour but the answer to your question is YES, special tours ARE available --- I have PICTURES to PROVE IT!!!
There is no tour guide for the ss united states its just docked there i work there and see it everyday like the person said earlier sorry no tours that i know of but u can see it from a distance if you care to.no ship tours.
The link below is from their website. All donation levels above $1000 will receive a tour. The donation level determines how many you can take on the tour. Each donation level also gives you different perks. I am currently sitting in my truck, looking at the ship, and wishing I could take a tour right now. http://www.ssusc.org/give-and-join/donate/
I don't think theres any tours ,but you can go there close enough to see it from a little distance.
