We can only pray that somebody wises up and put some money into it
Indeed, let's pray, write our representatives, speak up, speak out- wake people up to this. She is one of only 2 remaining 30+ knot superliners
I was fortunate last Summer to go on board the United States. Even though most of the interior is gone, you still got a feel for what it had been, a great ship. There is a Conservancy that is in charge of it's future. They recently partnered with a firm that will be doing a feasibility study for future development. Mixed use, hotel, conference center, museum, shops, restaurants, etc.
They're doing a feasibility study on her now
I haven't heard any news on a decision yet as to what possibilities exist within practical & financial constraints for either a full or partial restoration or for a use that's worthy of the effort. Last I heard the Conservancy which cares for the great ship was organizing an official "study" to be undertaken for considering a best path forward & how best to restore this magnificent ship to some semblance of it's past glory. You probably should check on the Conservancy website for any latest updates. I might do that myself since your question has piqued my curiosity now also!
