You need a smog check if you live in Reno. We encourage you to make an appointment at the Reno office. You may drive all the way to Fallon and wait for hours or be turned away if it is too late in the day.
Vehicles need to pass a smog test before registration when living in Washoe and Clark counties. Doesn't matter which DMV you go to.
I know that Lyon County doesn't require a smog test..but if the DMV goes by your address in Reno you might be have to get one...Honestly I don't know exactly how they go about that.. there has been several people at the Fallon DMV that were from another town and they got everything handled...Maybe give them a call...I'm sure they will help you..
