I stayed a couple nights in one of those old company houses and that really added the experience of the train ride.
Check Watoga state park ,they have cabins . 1 hour drive
Yes, a small hotel accommodations are nice and friendly staff. .Bear Creek Lodge right across the river from Cass Railroad
The company houses are nice, don't forget to pack an extension chord. Also, if the weather is cold you might want to bring extra blakets. These houses were built a very long time ago and are "period equipped " for the most part. You can expect TV, hot water, lights, stove, etc.
We stayed at a log cabin about 30 mins away and it was peaceful and beautiful
Not sure bout cabins. But the old company houses are available in Cass. Really nice

Snowshoe is about a half hour away, any manner of lodging that your heart desires.
