Absolutely not! There is no communication from the floor nursing staff. They rarely check in on you. They lie about doctors not putting in orders. For discharge, the doctor put in the orders at a little after 8. They told me the doctor hadn't put the orders in yet, d then later said it takes 3 hours for the orders to post in their system. You don't even have tv to pass the time unless you pay for each day that you want it. I heard excuse after excuse and even had to get up, go down the hall and track my nurse down to hear more lies. I finally called the director of nursing about the situation and that I was leaving with or without papers at 11:15. Less than a minute later the nurse came in and said my discharge orders were next in the printer queue.
Having been there, done that, it would be better that you take them to Butler Hospital. Its an hour away but they do take care of you there. UPMC has zero to no grievance process (despite their literature to the same). If you could find a doctor you like that is part of UPMC and that same doctor is the one that is going to do the procedures, then maybe. Lastly, since the laws have changed in PA regarding pain management, expect an uphill battle if you are the few, like me, who have certified chronic health issues. You'll just have to live in pain...
