Don't forget the Jennie Wade House. Gettysburg is a great place to visit. Go often. It's really great at night too.
Don't go camping in the park at night.
Go to the visitors center when you get there. Buy the ticket that gets you into all of the exhibits they have. Watch the Abraham Lincoln film, go through the museum and the Cyclorama. You want to do these things on day 1. It will help get you oriented. The best thing we have done on our trips was paying for the guided tour with the visitors center. A park ranger will drive your vehicle around the park and tell you the story of the battle. They stop along the way and show you everything briefly. Make a note of the things you would like to come back to and see again later. If you do those things on your 1st day it will make the trip better. The guides are great and very affordable. We have been there twice now and spent a total of 6 days touring the area using professional guides and audio tours and maps. We still haven't seen everything.
Opens at 10 closes.at dusk although some of the ghost tours seems to have an arrangement. Make sure and get a map. Lots of the park is in the city and accessible all the time.
Call when open
The battlefield closes at 10, there are night tours and ghost walks. The museum is open 9-10 Remember to get tour maps and see the full battlefield! We go each year and i learn something new each time!
