Has anyone else gone to donate platelets and ended also donating plasma too without being asked? They did that to me today and it was the second time they did that to my husband. We normally go to donate platelets only. Didn't l like it.

Yes, each time I donate I also give plasma as well because of the rate I donate as Curt said. It's a natural practice to help your body cover the loss.

It's determined by the computer based on how much you've been donating. If you've given a lot of platelets in a short period of time, the computer makes them take plasma to slow you down. It's for your own good, trust me.
