I agree. My. Mitchell is the best place.
I think one of the best places is Mt. Mitchell itself. They don't close the gates until 9 or 10pm. One of my other favorite places is wiseman's view. It's a little out of the way though

Mount Mitchell is absolutely one of the best places in North Carolina to see the sunrise and sunset. If you happen to be closer to Asheville Mount Pisgah is not bad either.
