It seemed perfectly safe to me, and we saw several bicyclist on the day we visited. Be sure to eat your Wheaties the day of your ride up. The summit would be an awesome place to park. If need be I'll coast it back down for you 😂👍🏁🏇
yes, it is safe. but suggest early week days to ride so less traffic. I park at the Folk Art Center on the Parkway near Asheville. 60 mile round trip from there. also make sure to bring head light and tail lights for a couple tunnels
We locked our bikes at the top and parked our car at the station. We hiked the summit, then rode back down on bikes. I felt pretty safe. I didn't feel nearly as safe when I was riding the parkway though
Yes
Yes, there's not a huge amount of traffic. Be careful around corners. The speed is usually around 35, so cars are not racing through and the road is very nice. Like Mikey said, be ready, it's a long uphill ride. I also saw a few cyclists on my way up a few weeks ago. Bring lots of water! There's a bunch of scenic lookouts along the way to stop and park. At the top, there is a large parking lot.
Safe to ride a bicycle however if you ride a motorcycle I would not do it unless you're very experienced rider
Yes i think its safe, we saw several bicyclists on the day we visited. Beautiful place.
Yes, but have a non-riding companion for support if needed for whatever...its a steep roll up.
You can park at the restaurant or at the summit.
There's a few turns with poor visibility but the speed limit is low, you should be fine. For parking, depends on how far you want to ride. There's a restaurant about half way up or you can park at any of the overlooks on the parkway
