My driver license will expire in Sep., 2022, but it is not real ID. How can I change to real ID? Do I have to apply renewal application?

You won't be eligible to renew but you can pay $11 for a replacement and the new DL will be a real ID. Don't forget to also bring in the original or certified copy of your birth certificate (the one from the state, not the hospital), OR a US passport book or card (it CAN be expired if you already have your TX license), OR proof of your lawful presence if you are not a US citizen. Also, bring proof of your social security number just in case it is not already on file. You will fill out a DL-14A if you are an adult and mark "Replacement" at the top.
