Is it ok to break lease (without consequences) to find a safer place to live after a parking lot shooting?

I highly doubt it...sadly, unless you were directly affected. Apt Management groups are generally sticklers for the rules. But, never hurts to ask..

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah you're probably right. I'll first ask if they can install security cameras and/or hire a security guard in the meantime. Rene Owens, I just found out about it myself. Other than that I have come home at night to encountering young men (drunk no doubt) urinating on the wall by the entrance to the apartment building and multiple times a car has parked outside for hours late at night bumping bass until eventually driving away. Loud and sometimes violent altercations happen in the hall outside and echoes pretty clearly too, probably every few weeks at least. The shooting is the most concerning issue clearly, but there's definitely some shady tenants. I'm in building 9 btw.

I am resident and did not know about about shooting. I feel its pretty safe here. Never any issues.
