The first time that I went, I took some random hidden trail that took me near the backside of the Glen Cove Mansion and came across some more hidden ruins with graffiti, aside from the ones next to the museum. Nobody was on that trail, so I assume not many people know about that particular area. If you put the GPS on, it's somewhere in the Northeast side of the park.
No worries it is open to the public even when the building is closed. I go all the time. Tip: use bug spray.. very buggy even this time of year.

Yes you can get into that area, if your looking at the front on the building it's off to the right side. Follow cobblestone driveway down. Can't miss it, greenhouse frames and large building.
