I loved it here. Amazing nature with so much life. Great trails, holocaust memorial museum and garden , abandoned green house, and sand beach, field, etc. Highly recommend. So many rabbits, butterflies, chipmunks, birds, etc. Overall very nice trails and a beautiful, small pebble beach overlooking the LI Sound near the trail. Welwyn Preserve is truly a gem. Parking lot available to park. One star out because their was no restroom available... and i searched. There should be public restrooms here... the Only restroom I saw is for the holocaust memorial building visitors.

A wonderful place to hike and enjoy LI Sound

This is a beautiful location; however, the walking trails are not marked and the is no map. The mansion garden is very nice and is great place to rest and contemplate the Holocaust. Butterflies are plentiful. Unfortunately, although dogs are not allowed - many people bring their unleashed dogs.

Parking would be in front of the holocaust museum then one would walk into woods/beach
There's a crescent beach nearby. I don't think the beach in Welvyn has it's own name.
Possibly a primative ocean buoy anchor
Yes
Yes ya can take photos.. no fee
I'm not sure if its allowed by rules, but I always see dogs there.
Public.
The first time that I went, I took some random hidden trail that took me near the backside of the Glen Cove Mansion and came across some more hidden ruins with graffiti, aside from the ones next to the museum. Nobody was on that trail, so I assume not many people know about that particular area. If you put the GPS on, it's somewhere in the Northeast side of the park.
No it's open during daylight hours rain or shine or snow
It's both. If you go through the woods it'll take awhile but it's a wonderful walk. Or you can go in a paved path and be by the water in five min.
