looking for a campground thats family friendly and has some trails through the forest that we could check out during the day, would this fit the bill?

Yes. Decidedly so.

A great park for families. Close to civilization, and yet it has a very woodsy feel with all the Redwoods and streams. The families in the park the day we hiked were really enjoying themselves!

Yes!!!Has a great path by the creek. It has other trails across the river. Good times!
