I came to your free adoption fair last month and i adopted a dog, she was very sick when we got her but it wasnt listed on any of her papers. She had very bad pneumonia and had to be hospitalized for 3 days. Do you not check for any of the illnesses

We are so sorry to hear your pet was sick. The shelter is a stressful environment and stress can weaken the immune system. They do receive veterinary exams and are monitored while here at the shelter, but it is possible that they did not start showing symptoms until after they left the shelter. We apologize again that we did not see any symptoms.

Yes they check for illness. This could have been misdiagnosed as kennel cough or the poor baby may not have showed signs yet. It should have been in your contract to take the dog to the vet within a certain number of days. The shelter is county run which means there are limits to what the can do. I'm so sorry your pup was sick but happy you are a pet owner that takes your dog to the vet

If the dog was very sick at time of the adoption would you not have noticed? The shelter does provide care for the many animals housed but as with humans some illnesses can not always be detected at the start or can come about suddenly as could have happened in this case. Rather than question the shelter on Google it may be best to contact the shelter directly.

Call the shelter directly for these types of questions. The people that post here are only customers not employee workers.
