No reservations needed. But if you are going to see Michelle Obama portrait there may be a line.

No. There is on at 12 and another one at 2:30 with docents. You meet at the info desk and they show you around for an hour. If you not pressed for time, it is not needed. The signage on the portraits is info enough for you to be self-guided.

Not sure if you need a specific time for the tour but it's really easily laid out and all the art is worth looking at so I don't know if a tour would be enough time

Nope, just have to find out times. Also many signs describing the art make for a good self guided visit.

We enjoyed the Portrait Gallery just on our own if one does not want a tour. There is excellent signage for each portrait/painting.
