Wonderful!

A pure joy to walk through. The building is magnificent. The art wide and diverse (at least in the western tradition). I spent five hours wandering the halls and admiring the paintings and sculptures.

The smaller part of the National Gallery of Art. It has several floors to explore. They have a couple of new exhibits. I found the Women in White to be powerful.

No disrespect to the artist but modern art absolutely sucks. anyone can do what is shown here. A child could make better art. The current display is “the double”. There’s a section that’s just a string of lightbulbs it looks ugly. It’s not art. The only pros for the east building is beautiful architecture.

Photography for personal use is permitted except where specifically prohibited. Monopods, tripods, and selfie sticks are not permitted inside the National Gallery buildings. Small tripods may be used by visitors on the National Gallery's outdoor grounds, including in the Sculpture Garden, except during heavily attended events.
Yes, but it's not obvious that it even exists if you enter via the main entrance on the National Mall and skip the "out of the way" gift shop/espresso/gelato bar in the building's basement. The interactive kiosks seem to ignore it, too. I luckily wandered around a bit in the cafeteria part and accidentally stumbled onto it by way of a neato tunnel/people-mover. There was a bit of construction happening in a few sections, but it was a true delight to "discover."
Yes.
