I would not recommend taking him to HRA Men's Shelter you can call 311 to find out a better place for him
And I absolutely agree with everyone above I do not put him in the shelter system. Not only is it temporary from 10 days to who-knows-how-long but it's a nightmare just to get him into one which will probably put him in another Borough far away where he won't get any kind of care at all. The person who suggested 311 it is also right. Also when I was in the hospital for more than a couple of days if they sent someone to the hospital to see if it was nothing more serious then anything however the point is they sent a person out Healthfirst my coverage because it sends up a flag. Try calling his health insurance company and ask for his case manager they might perhaps be able to help you or at least get you pointed in the right direction with assistance representation they'll be his Advocate per se. If I think of anything else I'll come back to this page and let you know but of course his health insurance number is on the back of his card or on the So just hang in there.
No Shelter, home Care is better& you can get paid 4 it check it out first god bless u both!
Only put him in the shelter system if someone is accompanying him. What tou could do is take him to a nursing home. Its a slight step up from the shelter system
Angela brook do not send him to a shelter if he had those conditions. Most staff workers would not give him the care he would need. You should check other programs out there. Sending him to a nyc shelter is like sending him into his own death bed. Talk to his doctors or call different programs that can assist him. But no shelter not a good choice. I seen people in the shelter for 5 years to 10 years and tgey was doing everything they needed to do. So becareful
I feel that your best bet would be a reabilataion and center So he would be able to get the proper care
for someone who was arrested at the shelter for drug possesion can they go back to the shelter 30th st?
Man they literally tried 2 kill me ..if you love ur brother contact a catholic charity NYC shelters...they literally leave the red light on from rape to extortion not the place u want 2 be
Also consider the following: Assisted living, visiting nurse. Consider working with a medical social worker which can be available where he receives his medical treatment. Consider all options.
If you put him in a shelter, for singles, they'll put him in a room with someone else, or maybe with two more, that do not know him and his condition. You could send him in a nursing home if you could. The shelter is not a permanent resident: it's only temporary until they find him a permanent residency.
Yesss
It can takes months before your brother will be is assigned permanent housing ie his own apartment. In the mean time he will be assigned an official shelter where he will live until housing is provided. Resources will be available to him and it will be soley uo to him how soon he finds housing.
It’s no easy transition He will still need your support , but if he can tuff it out it’ll pay off in the long run It can put him in a high stress environment it is !!! But it’s a roof and shower till something better comes along . Not alone, but alone many people there going through similar situations. Going in myself right now.
