I know it is a great miracle for the homeless to get sheltered. Even though there is a problem among the staff you don't need to mention it rather find a way to find a job and change your life. God bless America.
I need help as well. They help who they want. They ones who are working they harrassment and bullying as well as the mental abuse is very unerring. How do you get help to stop this behavior

No the shelter cannot force your daughter to work or go to a program. She must provide proof of her SSI benefits and her physical and mental ailments in medical documentation from licensed physicians and psychologist/psychiatrists.
Are outside contract security guards allow to check personnel items like wallets from a homeless person when in a shelter

I am in a family shelter with my daughter who is 18 and my domastic parther I get SSI my daughter gets SSI she has mental problems and physical problems the case worker said she has to work or go to a program she can't stay in shelter she gets SSI

Yes. If you are a single Male applying for shelter support, you will be placed in a Single Mens facility. If you are a single Male with a child, you will be placed in a families with child facility.

You would only be allowed to enter as a couple if there is a child under the age of 18 that will also be residing with you, or if you are pregnant. From there you guys will be placed in a family shelter. Otherwise DHS will separate you two and place you guys in a single men's and single women's shelter. Placement in a shelter is based on availability, and so if there is no child involved, this is the likely outcome. Yes couples can seek housing at PATH, if someone is pregnant their intake will be done as Families with Children if not then as an Adult Family as long as both members are over 21.
I Work in a COB in Far Rockaway and there are families who were in the shelter out here,and they were rushed into inadequate housing, knowing that the families has medical and other issues. What can we do to assist these families?

Hi Carnell, the curfew is intended to ensure that those who need a bed have a bed. If you or anyone you know is in shelter and work or have some other extenuating circumstance that would require them to be out beyond the curfew then they can communicate with their case manager and provide proof of that need.
It's not perfect of course but the reality is that we have very limited space in shelter and we are trying to provide beds for over 60,000 New Yorkers in site need of housing.

If you didn't sign the log book daily, they will see it as a curfew violation. Ask to speak to your case manager and see if there is anything that can be done. Make sure, even if you stay in all day to come down and sign the log book

Well you can go to path in the Bronx which is a family assessment center and they will place you in a shelter, submit proof of the work being done and that you will be able to return once the renovations are done.

Shower and sleep is the basic purpose of all shelters. There are a number of shelters in Brooklyn. But if you've never been in a NYC shelter before then you have to go through intake on 30th Street at 1st Avenue in Manhattan. It's the old Bellevue building. Ask them to assign you to a shelter in Brooklyn.

If a client is has section 8 in another State and rent is being paid in that State , but they are currently residing in a NYC shelter is that considered fraud.

The person is sitting in shelter unnecessarily as they have a way to pay for housing. This person is to call and have their section 8 transferred to NYC. It can then be used to obtain an apt.
If a homeless person wanted to move to NYC for a fresh new start. Where would be the first place he should go for shelter assistance?
