Are their restaurants around the hotel?

There are not any restaurants within walking distance. I ordered food from the hotel and it was good - I didn't think it was overly expensive for the convenience/typical hotel price point

The area is muy dangerous. A carry gun is very important and your head on a swivel, situational awareness just as you would have in any typical combat zone. This area is about on par with El Paso, Ciudad Juarez, Tiajuana, Washinton, D.C. or Chicago. It makes New York City feel like a " Walk in the park". Just be heavily armed and move in groups of 6 or more.

There is a gas station down the street that isn't safe so don't go there 😃. Last time I visited the staff was very rude and the food was over priced for the quality. I ended up ordering pizza a lot from outside chains. Take a drive to one of these; Bundanas Irie eats homestyle Masa italain

For Restaurants nothing super close except inside which was fine. Rental car - plenty of parking but Shuttle from airport was quick and I used Uber for work.

Hotel resturant was good last time i was at this hotel.

So renting a car instead of walking would be best?

Not really but there's a decent one in the lobby
