Are they giving you notice as in eviction? Or are they giving you notice to vacate while remodeling is being done? Is your building built June. 13, 1979? If so it falls under the rent control jurisdiction, the rent board can also answer questions (but they cant give legal advice).

if your landlord also is the owner of the home, does this give him the right to kick the renter out at any time he likes? the renter and owner/landlord have both signed a lease

I paid the $30 low income SF Tenants Union membership fee, however at the time I did not pay the additional $5.00 to have the Renters Handbook sent to me. How can I pay the $5. now and get the book mailed to me? Thank you.
