So Far They Don't Seem To Understand My Case. Since 2018/2019-Present (Sat. 6/18/2022) I've Tried Seeking Legal Aid And To No Avail. My Brother Has Financially Abused Our Elderly Mother For Years And Made Sure Not To Explain Fully That By Signing The Deed Of The House That It Would Be Joint Ownership Between Mom And Bro; Upon Her Death He Owns Everything While He Kicks My Son And I On The Street. Aside From Being In The Coronavirus Era (Respiratory Illness), I Got Asthma And My Son Autism. My Longtime Girlfriend Of 16 Years And Counting Is Also Disabled. Let's Not Forget That My Brother's Wife, Physically Assaulted Mom And The SF District Attorney's Office Didn't Bother To "Pick-Up" The Case, To Then Prosecute. My Brother Has Fraudulently Forwarded The Entire Household's Mail Over To His Own Personal P.O. Box. The Mortgage Is Going On 3 Years That It Hasn't Been Paid Regularly. (I Believe Only Two Payments Been Made In The Past 32 Months) Gas & Electric, Garbage And Water; Forget About It. Money Only Goes In His Pocket. Not Out. But Other People's Money Mainly.

It's a long wait in line if you want to see someone here. But the staff is very knowledgeable once you get to see them. They can help you with your situation right away and with the more difficult stuff they give you a handbook. A donation is expected when you see them as they are not funded by anybody else. The staff at this organization are tenants themselves. The tenants handbook will give you all the city codes necessary to fight your own battles but they also have a hotline you can call if you have a specific question. Parking is difficult in this area so you must get there earlier before they open. To get in you get through the metal gate in the front and go up the stairs. They accept credit card or cash. They were very helpful when I had issues with my landlord regarding illegal charges. I quoted back to their lawyer so many statutes that they gave up. the usual wait is being behind maybe three or four people. There is a restroom here you can use. It is not very handicap accessible.

I am a Member. It is not expensive to join. The staff are mainly volunteers. There are many complex situations that arise in SF rentals and.leases. A quagmire. They will give you a book that explains the principles.

The tenants union helped me and my roommate with good advice concerning our eviction due to our building being taken off the rental market under the Ellis Act. Staff is very helpful and will help you understand your rights as a tenant and will give you a list of attorneys if you need one.

Are they giving you notice as in eviction? Or are they giving you notice to vacate while remodeling is being done? Is your building built June. 13, 1979? If so it falls under the rent control jurisdiction, the rent board can also answer questions (but they cant give legal advice).
He can only evict you, if any of his relatives are moving in the house. If you live in, an apartment, he can only evict you if your rent is not paid. You have until the 5th of every month to pay your rent in full, in the state of California. But visit the tenants rights on capp street in San Francisco.
Take all the mail, and put it in one big vanilla envelope, and write on the envelope, RETURN TO SENDER!! And put it in the mailbox.
That's her problem if she doesn't want to cash your rent checks. If you're paying your rent on time, then you have no Worries. You can visit the (renters board) at 25 Van Ness, in San Francisco.
It depends ask a counselor at the SF Tennants Union.
Their opening hours carry from day to day. They post a schedule for the week at their gate. You are best going there and checking that sign for the opening hours.
I would give them a call
Please come into the Tenant's Union for counseling! See www.sftu.org for hours.
