No fee. Cardboard is a "Covered Material" per the Mandatory Recycling Law. This is accepted at no cost at the Fremont Transfer Station. Covered Materials: also known as readily recyclable materials consisting of paper, cardboard and most recyclable bottles and cans. These materials should be separated from the rest of your waste and deposited in the convenient recycling containers located at the facility.
As I recall, they will actually pay you a a small amount for clean cardboard (no staples, food, etc.). This was about 2 years ago, so I am not sure if this is still the case.
