Train rides are from Williams only. Grand Canyon does have a small air port. Helicopter rides over the canyon are available from las Vegas.
Train from Williams AZ to El Tovar, South Rim of the Grand Canyon. You are better off with a car rental. Stop at the Hoover Dam along the way. Then hit Bearizona on Route 40 in AZ, 60 km West of Flagstaff. If you don't have reservations at El Tovar far in advance for dinner, then hit it at lunch time before the tour buses and the train arrives. The tour bus ride is lousy and there is not enough time to explore. C'mon down in your brand new rental car!
You will need to drive from Vegas to South Rim.
Gotta drive or take a bus from Vegas to Williams. Then take the train.
There is a train from Williams AZ to the Grand Canyon (south rim). It is a scenic ride.
