Like others have said, use the fire road route in the dark. The last mile or so will still be on the AT. Make sure you have good lights for that section.
Just hiked it last week starting at 3am. Trail is easy to follow in the darkness. All trails app will make it even easier, almost impossible to take a wrong turn
Be care lots of narrow paths if you go the advance route. I might suggest the fire route if you just want an easy trip to the peak
