Hi all, my friend was unconscious few days ago. He is steady now. He is 75 years old and he is leaving Seattle for Japan by a cruise today. We wonder if there is a way that he could get a regular blood test and see the result before leaving.

Not unless you're already a patient at V. M. and have a primary doctor. You could take him to the ER but not sure he would make his cruise. With him being unconscious I would make sure and tell them that hoping they wouldn't want to keep him for observation. Sounds serious. Can his cruise wait?

He would need a primary care GP with Virginia Mason.

Dear Nash: Thank you so much for the warm response. I forgot to mention that he is steady right now. But we are still worried since the ship doctor can't diagnosis his situation. Too bad we can't do blood test on the cruise and the ship waits for no one. =(
