The grade for the road isn't that bad, you might not want to drive up Pikes Peak. LOL How Senior? How reasonably fit? Not going to lie, the paths are lovely and well cared for, but wear good shoes, have good knees, and there are some places that the incline had my sciatica yelling (45 year old hiker with back issues).
I would strongly advise you to go again! Like the answers above, the road is relatively easy (compared with driving up a 14er). The trail and the views are spectacular!
You drive up to the Crater and then there are a couple of trails. We made the drive up on a hybrid vehicle so any car should be able to do it fairly easily. It's not very long either. The Rim Trail might be a little difficult given how steep it is but there are benches along the way and I saw other seniors doing it. It's about a mile long. Definitely go check it out!
I found the road to be fine. It's paved and a good road. If you find that narrow high places make you nervous then the road might be a problem. The trails are paved and should be no problem if you're in ok shape.
Unsafe to walk, no problem to drive.
Road is made for automobiles. Two trails when you get there. One it's hard, one is easy.
The road is ok for minivans and cars, but trailers are not allowed. Hiking path requires some fitness, but you can also do a short hike. Its hot down in the crater in summer. I'm almost 70 and no problems, but I don't have any serious issues. Path is all flat and paved, will get slick if it rains.
The road is super thin. We got lucky and didn't have to share the road with anyone.
