Camping is allowed on the beach. With permit
You do not need the $12 parking pass to drive or camp on the beach at Mustang Island State Park, nor does it get you into the Park. You need to instead pay a fee when you enter. The $12 parking pass is for the county-run beaches. Likewise, you don't need a fishing license to fish in the paid part of the State Park. https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/licenses/fishing-licenses-stamps-tags-packages
It is $12 at the gas station right there before you go towards the beach. Good for a year on any beach.
10-10-18 The park is currently open for day use only. No camping at this time, this includes RV and beach camping. We hope to reopen for camping by the end of the year.
When we were there on vacation there was a couple of people who were boondocking on the beach, which if you don't know, means they had their camper on the beach, they had a generator hooked up, so I think it's ok, but you should contact the local authorities, I know you have to buy a parking pass to drive on the beach which is only $12 for the whole year
Does anyone know if camping overnight in a tent is allowed yet? We keep calling the state park number and it still says “day use only”. It would be nice if we could find out the truth.
Is camping allowed as of now? May 9? 🤔
One of the best places to camp on the island!
Always check with the authorities but yes everything you've been reading previous is true
Where do you get the camping permit?
