If you have a vet, they can guide you to whatever service you feel is appropriate. Or you can take the dog to the shelter. The Aussie in my buddy icon recently passed at home, and though it sounds cold, I could only afford to take him to the shelter where they took his body in for cremation for $10. No memorial or confirmation or ashes. But they were very understanding. The minimum service is cremation with a card to confirm the cremation which is about $125. If you want the ashes, it's about $150 I think. Of course, anything further is up to you.
Make sure when you take it either to a vet or to the Humane Society that they do not keep it for testing. Most vets will not use the animal for testing, I don't believe the Humane Society does either. It may cost you a little bit at a vet don't know if they charge at the Humane Society. So sorry for your loss.
You may choose from several options. Home burial may not be allowed depending on locatjon. You may also seek a veterinarian's help. They can have your dog cremated with dogvie's ashes returned or not according to your wishes. Costs vary. Washoe County Animal Services may help with pickup of remains or provide referrals to places that can belp. I' m sorry for your loss.
