I've only really done the loop that goes to the falls. Sometimes I can go the whole thing and not see another person, but normally I'll see some couples, families, or females with dogs. I don't think I've ever encountered any males up there traveling alone (that I remember). No one has set off any alarms in my mind while I've been up there (I'm law enforcement). Still, never hurts to take precautions. You have pepper spray so that's something.
I walked alone to the falls during the week last year, in April. Saw other women hiking alone, or with dogs. Some families on vaycay. I felt comfortable. I alwaus have bear spray accessible on my pack, just in case. Enjoy!!
Not to much traffic during the week. Like anywhere when alone your taking a risk. Their is nutty people everywhere. Would suggest a friend or something to defend yourself. Just in case.
I've walked to the falls alone on a week day and saw few others...I was comfortable however my parents live just over the ridge about a mile. On the other hand, I've been at the scenic overlook and probably only 50 feet from my car and been so spooked I couldn't get back to it quick enough. Unfortunately these days you just never know what kind of people could be passing thru. As a female I kinda think Safety in numbers ... it's never a bad thing.
Not safe to walk alone
I'd say no, but I've only walked to the falls
I wouldn't say it's busy, but there's a steady amount of ppl on the main trail to the falls. The other trails are less traveled. As a woman, I would feel it was safe to hike alone.
I always hike it alone.
Its fairly remote if you're going farther than the falls, but the peak and some of the surrounding areas aren't too bad. Plenty of people walk alone, it comes down to what you're comfortable with.
