Another great North Carolina State Park that we had the privilege to stay at. The park is small, not that many sites. But the sites were spacious and very easy to back into with our Airstream. There are no water, electric or dump hook-ups. Each site had a picnic table and fire pit. The park had easy access to trails next to Phelps Lake plus a boat ramp. Another plus was that the park was adjacent to and within easy walking distance to Somerset Historic Place.

Great state park. Definitely going back. The Tundra swans were interesting and very noisy. Came here in February so the camp sites were not crowded.

It’s a beautiful park. I stopped in on my way through when visiting the Outer Banks. The park staff is very friendly, and there are beautiful views of the lake. The trails are nice as well, and the camping area is fantastic. It is …

Wonderful place to walk around and take a breather from everything else. I brought my dogs and they loved it, not to mention the scenery is beautiful!

Did you, by any chance, watch Terror in the Woods on Destination America?
And we don't taste like chicken.
It's a little over a hour with moderate traffic to nags head.
They have plugs at the wash house, for hooking up batteries for charging on the left side of the mens wash house.
There are go to the entrance and go east of the entrance and you'll find a bike path
There is water between the camp sites and then in the shower house, the men's side has two shower stalls and two urinals and two commodes, one is wheel chair accessible, it's about 10 to 12 miles to Columbia from the campsite, takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get there. People have dogs there all the time, have a good time and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Yes to pets. Very nice small campground.I believe the ranger can tell you about fishing. The lake has several small fishing piers.
Hey Jonathan, a good friend of mine is actually one of the rangers there. He said yes, as long as you have a reservation prior, youll still be able to access your site. Hope this helps!
No, just miles and miles of farmland
Yes
There's an area along the board walk that is pretty swampy, there is a lot of swamp cypress
The swimming area is still closed
No playgrounds. Just a swimming area and picnic area. We found there to be alot of biting insects. Strong repellent is needed. And wear closed shoes, the sandspurs were not nice.
No. Better stop in Plymouth, Columbia, or Creswell before heading out there.
