Absolutely amazing state park. Lots of trees interspersed with the campsites so it feels more homey and naturey. Super clean facilities. Stayed right on the lake which was so relaxing and peaceful. My husband did some shore fishing and was very successful at dusk using worms. He caught catfish, drum, and bowfin. The night sky views are also fantastic - we could see the milky way our first night here. 10/10 would recommend.

Beautiful and nice sites. Only thing was terrible cell service. Which could be a good thing but we had friends staying in town and it was hard to communicate. Nice beach sites and wooded sites. Hiking trails as well.

Very dog friendly, i saw all breeds. I was at site #31. 2 motorhomes and 2 tents could fit on this site. Plenty of room at this site but I've been told some sites are really small and/or not level. Plenty of trees for shade. One way paved roads. Some sites are paved, Some are just natural dirt. I did have to ask for a map so i could locate my site. The lot numbers are on the electrical service panels. WiFi is located at the Ranger station where you check in. Most times, me, and all the other campers I've spoke to, had zero cell service so i walked to the Ranger station and was able to make WiFi calls, text and email. There are benches so you can sit outside. I would get cell service and local television channels in the evenings. I was not on a site on the beach. There's a paved ramp to get down to the beach or you can use the stairs, which are located near my site. The beach is clean and has amazing sunsets. I'm sure the sunrise is beautiful but i wasn't awake for it. There is a 2 mile hiking trail, basketball hoop, horseshoes, playground and small cabins for rent. The shower rooms are clean, good pressure, water gets warm. This is a state park so the water is hard well water. Electrical hook up, not all sites have 50amp. There is a fill and dump station on site. Trash & Recycling dumpsters. We will be back next year.

What am amazing state park! We loved our site right on the beach! We watched the sunset right from our site and listened to the waves all night Bathrooms were exceptionally clean which is always a plus!

Mostly, this seems the case, depending upon size of the camper. However, Lake Huron's water levels are high, recently. This has caused a couple sites to be unusable. But they converted them to hammock camping only sites, effective summer 2021.
The main beach is not however just to the west of the main beach is a half mile of state land beach that is open. Rising water has taken over much of the open sand area and water last year was up to the over growth. Perhaps this year the ice may have pushed the growth back some but there is open areas for dogs
Yes, there is one for campers and also a daily park a couple of miles away from the campground. Personally the best beach 🏖 around is the County Beach park it's free there's restrooms it's only a few miles away as your heading into Caseville. There's a store across the street that has yummy ice-cream 🍦. That store is called Duggan's Campground, but they have their store out front.
I can tell you the beach has some of the best skipping rocks I've seen. I didn't come across any Petoskey stones but still a nice area to search for some cool rocks!
The Dark Sky part is open 24 hours.
Along the Pinnebog river it seems likely. We saw some people fishing off the bridge. Can't verify how successful they were, though.
Depends on the size and time. See this website https://midnrreservations.com/
Sometimes in the summer
Yes
Most sites have electric hookups (20/30, not sure and about 50).
This area is a designated dark sky park, so should be exceptional.
Campground at Port Cresent Beachcomber in Port Austin Lake vista in port Austin Little yellow cottages in port Austin Garfield inn in Port Austin AirBnb
Port Austin has a great yak rental place. Padddle up to Turnip Rock.
We are in Ohio and are coming up for it. We did last year and it's now part of our summer plans. Do you have a number you could pass on? Thanks!!
You can, but I would start and return to Port Austin unless you are a very experienced kayaker. Aside from the distance, Port Crescent State Park is in a bay and can have very different wind and wave conditions than Port Austin and Tunip Rock.
No they do not... they actually have a sign there that designates as a dark sky park and is open after 10 p.m.
You could probably launch at the beach but you would need to carry it..water can be very choppy..
Yes
No, there is a fill station, but no hookup at the sites
On the web site it says metal detectors are not permitted to preserve anything of historical significance.
Only at the campground. I'd suggest making reservations unless you're there during the week (and not during a holiday).
There are quite a few lots that are paved with asphalt to park on down along the water , most of the lots on the upper drive are grassy.
If you can't figure it out there is a place right down the street called the little yellow cottages they're very nice and good people don't know much about the campground I think you have to go through DNR
I am pretty sure they do. If not there is a party store across the road that does
Dogs and cats are allowed at all Mi State Parks, they must be kept leashed, and not left unattented, there is no fee.
That's a great question 1stly. That State Park 🏞 fills up very quickly. Prob because the thumb 👍 is so much closer from the Metro area. First go to the State of Michigan website to see what's available. Their website is great. Then if they are filled up call to see if there is any cancelations. Good 🍀 Luck with getting a reservation. I love the thumb 👍 region of our Great State.
