Ten years after we actually got married, I went to change my legal last name ( 🤷 Life got busy!) and get my updated Social Security card. As of 10/25/2022, the US SSA office on Garden Street in Pensacola, Florida appointments are not being scheduled for SS card services. We arrived around 0930 on a Tuesday Morning on a walk-in basis. Words cannot express how impressed I am over how my visit went. The waiting room was already moderately busy by the time we arrived. Signing in on the kiosk was simple and fast. I probably waited about 20 minutes in the waiting room. I brought a copy of our marriage certificate and my driver's license per the instructions on their website. The entire process was complete in less than 5 minutes. My only prior dealings with the SSA involved death certificates and applications for SSD/SSI, retirement, pension benefits, etc. I dreaded doing this for 10 years!

I had a great experience aside from having to wear a mask. The lady at the window was nice and very helpful in answering all my questions.

Very systematic, everything is self explanatory if you pay attention to the signs on the door you can find most of the information you need. Kiosk machine made my experience really easy too. The lady who processed my documents was very nice and polite. Everything went fast and smooth.

You are Unable to call the local office for any reason. You can only get through on the 800 number. If you need help at the local office level you have to go in person and wait in line.
How do I make a appointment for my local office
They don't have a direct line. It's only the toll free number
It's DEF best if you make an appt!! If you don't, you may end up sitting there waiting for hours, literally!!
Be there when they open!! The later you go, the longer you will wait!!
Call either the local office or the 800 number & you can change your address over the phone with them. You will need to provide them with your SS#, legal, full name, & DOB.
Best bet for Medicaid and other assistance such as food stamps is the My Florida access site.
When that happens they usually pay you on the Friday before your due date if it falls on a Sunday and the following day is a holiday. Check your card or account.
If you want to change your name you do.
You can log into "my social security" on the ssa.gov website and all the info is available for you there. Even shows ytd or just the monthly payments.
Go to the Health Dept in the county you reside in, and you can get it there. Call ahead to find out what documents you need to bring, so you don't make a trip for nothing. I believe the cost is $10.
I donot know
Yes but it is better to do it in person. It's much quicker.
Best way is either Florida access website or directly from ssa.gov after doing so stay on top of it so you're not just a "submitted application". I personally would go strait through the SSA.GOV website
When they aren't on a federal holiday which seems like everyday for this particular office. Taxpayer waste!!!! Dumb as a box of rocks. Pretty sure each of their moms gave birth to a boulder!
Call the Social Security Administration & give them your info or go online to www.ssa.gov and create a My Social Security Account and you can print one from there or request that they mail it to you.
Yes u can if you lived there u can go there
Yes it does.
Call the local branch of the US Social Security Administration and the bank of the account that the check is deposited into (if applicable).
The bank it went to.
It's open I was just there
I don't believe the office closes for lunch
Go to office with your paperwork and old social security card and they will do the rest.
You have to call ssa & you will either need to be a parent, guardian or have a POA (power of attorney) of that person I believe. You will have to have prof that you will have to send them.
All I can say is just keep trying
Closed to Walk in without an appt.
Cant get anything no matter what just a dead beat with the title to make it ok thats why hes on ssi stupid asg
ssa.gov/faq this will tell you what you need and how to apply online or in person.
No 1, we do not schedule appointments for each category of business, ex Social Security cards. No 2, our appointment calendar is 2-3 months out.
No sure about that.
10 % for every year you could have had it and was not working & covered under that employer's health plan
No
No, you shouldn't need an appt just to drop off paperwork. But, I would advise you to go as early as possible to avoid a long wait. Good luck.
Your I D. You can also do it online. But if you never had one, you'll need a birth certificate.
REPORT IT TO THE SSA! YOU CAN GO ONLINE TO SSA.GOV WHERE YOU WILL FIND A LINK TO REPORT SUCH CALLS. IT IS A "ROBOCALL" AND IT IS A SCAM!! HANG UP IMMEDIATELY & PLS, PLS DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!!
All he needs to know is his #. And DL"S to get a new one.
I've posted it several times; It's in the comments.
Call the 1800 #
Go to the County Health Dept and you can order one there. You should be able to do it on their website as well.
No
If she's eligible & he has her on his paperwork, it should be automatic, u shouldn't have
Sure you can. As long as it's a disability related assistance of some sort. Now if it's just extra assistance you'll need to go through Florida Access. Which is completely different than SS. Whether you're married, family, dating, roommates, etc. Doesn't mean a thing. Best of luck to you getting what it is you're needing.
411 West Garden St Pensacola, FL 32502
I'm almost positive he can. I had a friend whose Mother did 18 months & when she got out, she started drawing her disability check again. He may have to update his disability paperwork, though. Hope this helps & God bless!
In short, no that won't be enough evidence. You must fill out a Form SS-5 and either mail or take it to the office in person, along with the following documents: 1) an original birth certificate or other permissible proof of age such as a passport, final adoption decree or religious record of your birth 2) an unexpired driver’s license, passport or state ID card to prove your identity, or if you don’t have one of those, a military ID, employee ID or another identity card 3) additional evidence of citizenship if you are not submitting a birth certificate or ID, and if you aren’t a U.S. citizen, evidence of immigration status. *The Social Security Administration will only accept originals or copies that are certified by the agency that issued the original. You can’t use photocopies, even notarized ones. The agency also requires you to submit at least two documents, even if one of your documents (for example, your passport) can serve more than one purpose.
TO BE HONEST WITH YOU, WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED AND LEARNED IS IF YOU CAN'T MAKE CONTACT OVER THE PHONE, I SUGGEST YOU GO TO THE OFFICE,IT CAN BE FRUSTRATED AND WE TENDS TO BLOW UP, JUST TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND KEEP CALM EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY, HOPE YOU GET CLOSURE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Most definitely, but it depends on the situation. Say, if there's a problem involving abuse, exploitation of the elderly, competency, etc things could get complicated very quickly! I'd advise you to call the Council on Aging, 90 Works, and/or DCF for better answers. God Bless!
Early morning is usually best & after the first couple days of the month. Def don't call on the first day of the month! But, if you need to change something that will effect you check, such as bank account info, be sure to do so before the 15th of the month, or it won't take affect until the following month. Hope this helps & good luck, Michael
Not sure/ call the office
Your id and the hospital/birth record's
Walk-in
15 dollars
Having the same problem what a joke!
It's best you take her in the office but u better get there way before they open cause the line is very long
All your answers will be found at sss.gov
Google your local socialsecurity office and it gives the directions and numbers..
You call the office
I said HOW do I make an appointment in Pensacola?
You must come in with picture ID
Only inside...but if it's small you can slip an envelope thru the door and the guard will put it in the box
You have to go in with name change paperwork, birth cert, etc.
I don't think that just because you married her and she's disabled that makes you her guardian. Now if she's disabled because of a mental disorder you could and probably should petition the court and/or social security administration to become the guardian over her SSI and/or disability check. You should probably also petition the court to have guardianship over her estate and to make important health decisions on her behalf. There's a legal name for it, but I can't remember it at the moment. Call the clerk of courts office, listen to the voice prompts, push the number to whatever department you need (possibly marriage and/or disability law) and just ask the clerk that answers the phone. They're really good about helping you with information like that. I hope this helps. Have a great day. The courthouse hear in Pensacola is called the M.C. Blanchard Judicial Building if you decide to use google or 411 to get their phone number.
I believe that you can schedule an appointment online or by calling the toll free number.
I would think so. After all it's your money, but you will of course need both account numbers and both routing numbers if you're using different banks. You could always call their toll free number and ask. Expect to be on hold for a while, but they'll answer your questions to the best of their abilities. You could also probably ask that question at the socialsecurity.gov website and get an answer. I'm not sure.
I doubt it, but I'm not sure try calling their toll free number and asking if they so no, have him or her schedule an appointment. The wait time will still exists, but it will be a much shorter wait time.
You must persist. I have experienced very long hold times. Worst case...you might have to make a trip there, or call a national customer service #.
I found it this morning on U Tube.
They're slow about sending social security cards, so I'm sure a name change is more extensive and would thus require an even longer waiting period
You can find it out at the social security administration office. You will have to provide proof of identity for all three of you. For yourself you'll more than likely need a picture ID government issued ( a state driver's license and or ID card), their birth certificates, possibly proof of residence (two bills in your name preferably light and cable bill [if you live with someone else who pays all of the bills a letter from them saying you live with them and all bills are in their name with the two bills still and their contact information and to be in the safe side I'd even get a copy of their ID]), possibly your own birth certificate as well. The more information you have on hand and proof of that information when you get there the less frustrated you'll be. Leave no stone unturned. They may ask you to verify information about yourself and your children that only you should know, so be prepared for that as well. But that's all you should need.
You probably could get spousal benefits from the social security administration if their mother worked a full time job. The thing is, you only have so long after she passes to apply (I think it's like 6 months). They will not tell you that of course and i believe the children have to be under 18. You do have to apply for it. It's called survivorship benefits. And I'm not sure, but I believe you two have to of been married for them to award those benefits to you. That's basically what SSI is for the OASDI (old aged, survivorship, and disabled individuals). I read a lot. And ask a lot of questions. One of their employees actually told me that certain stuff (like how to get what's owed to you or an increase in your benefits). It's a shame too. We're supposed to be the richest country in the World, but our government tries to conceal certain necessary, pertinent, and important information from us. They determine how much or if you'll get anything based off of her PIA. Look it up.
Go to the social security administration here with all of your identification, letters of benefits and benefits amount, proof of prior and current residence, and get you a disability lawyer. When my husband transferred his from Georgia to Florida, Florida cut his off for 3 years. We got an attorney and won. They only reimbursed him for 1 year though. So be careful. If you have the card that's it's deposited on keep it and leave everything alone. Because Florida's disability laws are much different and stricter than other places. They don't consider cancer a disability. Even though cancer can shorten the length of one's life, can cause you to not be able to work (because you're sick from chemo and radiation), can cause the loss of quality of life, etc. Why isn't it a disability? My son has hydrocephalus and has had it since birth. He's nine now and still alive ( glory be to God) because they denied it for him as well. He had to have 3 brain surgeries before he was 7 months old, has tube
