Finally got to visit this famous steak house, the ribeye steak is super good and tender! The staffs are excellent as well! Got to pack the leftover breads which was so good as well! Definitely a treat!

4.5, okay? The steal was beautiful! Even a portion for one can feed two. Hamburger was great as well. Loved the service at the table, the welcoming part could improve. I only wish bread in the bread basket was warm.

Hands down THE best steak that I have ever had. I will eat here at least once on every trip that I make to NYC. UPDATE: Still batting 1.000 - 7 trips to NYC / 7 visits to Luger!! Every visit is as astoundingly delicious as the first!
Just made my first visit back since COVID - I've missed you Luger!! Still the best in the world!
Without drinks around 100$ per person and you can pay with debit card
I would save my money and go somewhere else the porterhouse was nice but i had better and the side dishes weren't good at all
The service was unpleasant (very pushy and condensending)
I'd try after 5pm, they are open for lunch and I've never had a hard time getting a call through.
If you are trying to get a table on short notice, good luck, the earliest seating I've gotten with calling a month ahead is 9:30pm
FYI - They only take cash, lunch walk-ins usually never need reservations.
For reservations would I need to bring a ID? Lost my ID and would love to go soon worried that they'll ask for ID and not be able to eat.

No ID required its just a reservation to save your table, very limited seating and its outside so dress warmly and wear hats/scarf and gloves. Wish I wore fleeced leggings. Heated lamps helped but it was windy.
Kids are welcome but no special menu for them. not particularly sure there is BYOB however if so as with many establishments, you may need to pay a bottle service for chilling and serving.
It's not cash only anymore. That changed a few years ago. Cash or debit card. Not credut cards. Also if you are drinking wine i recommend buying a bottle instead of by the glass. Your cheapest bottle is apx 70.00
Dress doesn't matter , it's not what you look like how you dress just be a regular guy shake hands with the matre'd. .......if you know what I mean ...be a sport
Peter Luger Steakhouse Precautions 🚨
Because you can only pay with cash or a US debit card
International travelers are advised to bring plenty of cash.
We sat down and looked at the menu.
I know that credit card payment is not possible.
Go to a nearby A
The menu offers steak for one, two, three, or four. They mean if you order a single entrée (like the steak for one) for two people at the table but no other entrée. If you were to order steak for one and have another entrée and share, that's fine.
If I want to get the burger, can you only order it at the bar and if so do you need a reservation or do they serve it in the dining room as well?

Sorry I don't know. I did not see people eating at the bar while waiting for our table. As much as I know they do accept walk-in but it will probably be involveing a wait.
You have to go there in person and pay for the gift certificate in cash, unless you have a Peter Luger credit card, but wow what a great great Steak, the best steak house in New York, believe me, receivers of the gift certificate will always remember that gift and that fantastic Steak
NO,AND THIS IS A GOOD RESTAURANT NOT HIGH END. HIGH END IN NYC IS PER SE OR LE BERNARDIN AS AN EXAMPLE AND IT TOOK ME 3 DAYS FOR MI RESERVATION LAST WEEK.
For 1 person I would give a budget of $100. Everything is separate. Sides are an extra charge and range about 20$ and up. Everything us a separate cost. Drink appetizers entree sides all separately charged
Buy AAA aged steaks from your Butcher Peter Luger serves a large porterhouse steak you would find a T -Bone more affordable serve with a nice Cabernet sauvignon $$ good luck. Google Jamie Oliver steak cooking.
I would likely say yes. I saw on food channel....Because they consume a ridiculous amount of meat, the restaurang storage for both locations are not enough. They use one central location somewhere in New York.
The Brooklyn location is very busy throughout the day. Reservations help a lot but you have to call 2 weeks ahead of time to get the time you want.
Anyone can go down without reservations to take pictures outside of the restaurant, smell, look at people eating their steaks and to wipe the drool off your face but if you want to sit down and eat, then reservations is highly recommended. I did see once, where once in a blue moon someone with a party of 6 didnt show up and someone was there to take 2 of those seats but most times that doesn't happen. Keep calling and someone will answer the phone during their open hours.
I had the same experience and ended up walking-in and waiting for 40 minutes before being seated. I guess the lines are busy and they don't seem to support any of the online table booking services.
Anyway it's worth the hassle!
Call to book 6 weeks in advance when they open for booking. Alternatively, go to Benjamin's steakhouse, or Wolfgang steakhouse in manhattan. You get equally good, if not better, steak
Yes. When I went it was for dinner. I also tried go go after work 5pm and it was crowded. Always call for a reservation to be sure that you are seated.
It really depends on the day you are going. During holiday season, you should call months ahead. On normal occasions, one month ahead is not exaggerated
trying to get a reservation for August 23rd, 2:30 lunch, my husband's bday, can you give me a reservation for 2 that day and time. Called twice but put on a long hold. Under the name William Winkler, he always wanted to go to Peter Lugers. .

Luger has strange policy, bookings are to be made exactly one month in advance. My kids did this for me in May for booking in June. So try on 23rd July
No answer. I didn't make a reservation and waited for 40 minutes, but then it turns off

Get the bacon, creamed spinah and Porterhouse. Cant go wrong!
It really depends on the day. You never really need one for lunch but you may have a small wait. I came late for lunch last week and they seated muy and my guest instantly. So it depends. Remember no credit cards except Lugers'.
Certainly not but I should say the halal way is done by exsanguination and the meat can't be too juicy
They have other selections too and it's a good experience
It isn't but getting medium well may be why that's a concern for you. You can try tonorder a little more than medium and have it retain some of the juiciness.
My wife and i walked in on a friday night and waited 15 minutes and were sat. I realize this is a rareity, but it is possible. Like others have said, give them a call. They told me they were booked through the weekend, but once their only waited 15 minites with no reservations.
It is quite pricey, if you just look at the prices itself. A steak for 2 people will be around 60 USD and if you order sides, salad and drinks you'll most definitely go beyond 100 USD for one meal. However, it DOES have history, tradition, and delicious steaks and true American sides to a steak.. I had one meal there - and it was worth it, but I wouldn't go there on a regular basis :p
You should always make reservations. You will still wait a little. It's a popular tourist spot so expect a line. They only take reservations by phone (expect a long hold time) and take only cash, check or debit card. The steak is excellent. Worth all the wait times. Enjoy!
