So we came there on Tuesday 8/30 to adopt a kitten and we were told that we couldn’t get her until she was spayed so we offered to pay for her right away. We where told that we couldn’t pay or take her home until she was fixed. Our scheduled appointment to pick her up was 9/13 so today I call to check up on her and was told she was adopted out the Saturday after we left which was the 3rd of sept. This shelter has the worst staff working for them. How can you dlb adopt an animal and think it’s ok to treat your customers differently. I guest because me and my wif are a mix couple we was allowed to pay for the kitten and bring her back to get fixed , but they promised she’d be there waiting for us and has been gone to a new home for a week and a half now , so someone else was allowed to take her home without her being fixed. This has now caused my wife and daughter emotional distress. We will never return to this shelter again.

I adopted my kitten Clarabelle here . The ladies working are all very helpful and the adoption process was very smooth. I was impressed by the cleanliness and well run facility. Our sweet little kitten is such a wonderful addition to our home. She is a total love bug and even my Shorkie dog is smitten

They are a great facility. I've seen people come that had to give up their pet, the staff was so loving, thoughtful and understanding. Then my very next visit I witnessed a young man, softly, begging his Mama...pleaseeeee they had come to see his uncle's dog, just after hearing his favorite uncle had died and his dog was there. This boy wanted this dog. When they brought the dog out, the boy wrapped his arms around this dog, and he hugged this beagle like he had his new best friend, and spirit of his uncle all wrapped up. This dogs tail couldn't wag any faster, with circles too. The boy smiled, squeezed, and his mama looked, and saw what i saw, ment to be. She said yes, bet hes the most loved dog. Reminded me of that great movie "the red fern" Where a boy really wants a dog. I felt honored to have been there and witnesses such joy. I adopted a kitten. Fostered 3 days to make sure got along with peeps and dogs. Shes the bestest. Been bit by snake 2x, hit by car, and still going.
I lost my staffordshire bull terrier at 10 years old and was unsure if I wanted another dog anytime because of the pain and suffering before euthanization. After 5 visits to adoption centers in the Knoxville area and looking at over 2,000 dogs on the internet across the US my husband drug me to this location. Upon arrival we found 20 or more dogs being walked by volunteers in beautiful meadows. The shelter was the cleanest I have visited and smelled a lot bettter than some vet offices I have visited! The large dogs were all in large pens that also had revolving doors so the dogs had access to individual outdoor pens. The dogs were all happy and had great exercise pens to run freely in while visiting or just time to be a dog. There were donated benches you could sit to allow the dogs to approach you. The staff was great and appeared well knowledged about the dogs and the adoption process went very smooth.
It is unlawful in Blount County to allow a dog OR cat to run free and create a nuisance. The owner can be fined. Alcoa's animal control is not associated with BCAC. Please call the Maryville Shelter (865) 681-2241 and find out what your options are. At a minimum, if you can catch the cat, you can surrender it to the Maryville Shelter on Home Ave.
They often have small dog breeds...call to make an appointment to view.
BCAC has funding to do free cat spay/neuter. Normally the program is one Sat a month. You can call the front desk to get more info and make an appointment.
Tell the person next time to take pictures to prove its your dog
We did but it has already been adopted.
You you can! Until you turn 16 you must have a parent or guardian on the premises when you are voluteering. We have several teens that voluteer with a parent. If you are interested please call the Center at 865-890-6244 and the Volunteer coordinator can send you information about voluteering. Thank you for your interest!
You must call and make an appointment to come & look at cats. If you are interested in a dog, you need to go on Petfinder & look at our available dogs. Once you have determined a couple of dogs that you may be interested in call for an appointment. Our appointment times are Tuesday through Friday 11-2 and Saturdays 10-1.
Please call 965-980-6244 ext 2. You'll need to make an appointment. We are closed today. But will be open tomorrow for drop offs starting at 11 am. Our address is 233 Currie Ave in Maryville. We are behind Richy Cream Donuts on East Broadway. There are signs. Well find them good homes! Thank you
Where do you live? if you live outside of the city limits of Maryville, Alcoa, or Rockford you can bring him to the Blount County Animal Center. We are currently still working by appointment for adoptions and surrenders. You can call 980-6244 to make an appointment.

Call the shelter and ask or you can check on the website
I'm not sure best way to find out is go by there or call
So sorry. That is very kind of you
Need to be there by 8 am.
I would call them. They would be the best ones to answer this.
Call the animal shelter for advice.
Thank u
Please call or go by the shelter. They will be open to the public Tuesday - Friday (11-6) and Saturday (10-2). They will be able to give you some tips on helping to locate a missing dog and let you know if she has been brought to the shelter. You may also check Facebook " Friends of Blount county animal center." They will post photos of found, missing or strays at the animals arrival. A good tip is to place the dogs blanket, toys or bed outside so that she can smell her scent. Also check with your neighbors. The quicker you get the information on social media the better! Good luck...
That was not our animal center. This was through the Blount County Humane Society and Maryville Shelter.
Dont get a cat just to get rid of a mice unless you plan on loving it and keeping It afterwards please
We accept intakes on Tuesday through Friday from 11 am until 330 pm.
We do not have any pugs at this point in time. Sorry.
Ok thank you. If we get any calls or anybody brings her in we will let you know.
I have a 1 year old beagle if you want I can't afford anymore need it gone
Is this still correct if you have community service that has to be done?
We do. they are single use blankets, they have a tendency to fall apart in the washer, but our animal control officers use them when they have to respond to sick or injured dogs. It gives them some protection from the hard surface in the animal control kennels.
The dogs would love that. The shelter has a nice group of volunteers, maybe you could consider to become one. I've been walking dogs there and it is a nice way to exercise while giving the dogs some needed time outside. And you get to know nice people!
We are not a no kill animal center but we are a low kill center. We have not put animals down due to space for several years. Our dog adoption rates have been averaging 95% for the past 4 years and our cat adoption rates since we started our barn cat program have been running around 85-90%.
The adoption fee that I'm aware of his $80.... But they're really nice people down there so give them a call directly they'll be glad to answer any questions you have.....
I know of animal abuse to a young pit bull in maryville tn . on sentell circle . next to my papaws. The guy kicks and punches his dog for digging in yard. He kept a boxer and hound in a small pen outside without food and water for days no play no interaction no shelter and then all of a sudden they died and now they have a pit and poodle and several feral kittens. We tried to help catch kittens for the tnr. But to feral to touch. And we have called them in several times for the other dogs before they died and had no help saving them. We tried to throw food to them as we could but they where to wild to get close to without getting bitten or anything if we got close to the pen. Like i said they never had alot of human contact . But i say they dont need animals at all.
How is this on my phone?Don't Send Stop please
There are usually several sizes and breeds in the shelter at any given time. You can view a description of each one on the Blount County government webpage or Friends of Blount County Animal Center Facebook page.
Call Blount Co Animal Shelter They have someone who can catch the cats and have them fixed.
I have one that I need rehomed
The shelter is a no kill facility. She would have a great chance of being adopted.
Not all are or I wouldn't have a reason to ask
Not now but check in periodically.
