The Travelin' Kind
Beautiful park & super kind staff. Lots to do. Plenty of trails, fishing, swimming, disc golf, beautiful sunrise & sunset watching, plenty of wildlife, lots to explore, etc. We camped in the Otter Creek campground & I cannot recommend it enough! We loved this park & definitely recommend. Dog friendly, keep them on a leash. Clean facilities. The showers are not free, if you did not come prepared with quarters there is a change machine directly outside of the showers.

Cute little State Park not a lot to it. Hiking trail was well maintained just not all the way marked

This park has the most beautiful wildflowers I've seen. We visited May 20 to 23. The campgrounds were super clean and packed!

We really enjoyed this beautiful state park and Mountain Shade campground! Our campsite had beautiful yellow and red roses in full bloom. Reservations were easy to make, visitor center staff and camp hosts were very nice. Loved hiking in the nearby Wichita Mountains Wildlife Reserve and seeing the local wildlife. Looking forward to our next visit.

You don't have to have a reservation. There are plenty of first come first serve sites available.(They can fill up on weekends and holidays though) Some of the best sites are by reservations only.
I would use caution and secure anyting of valuable... we would not be responsible for anything lost or stolen
If you are 100% disabled it would be $7 off . There is a slide on electrical box that will indicate available or Reserve You're welcome to set up a tent on an RV. sight. They start at $22 a night. There's no tax. on tent and RV sites. Just check the electrical box and make sure it's available and not Reserve prior to setting up.
You'll have to call to confirm, but they do have several spaces tagged for those with disabilities, and they're the BEST locations in the park with great views and VERY close to the water. If the park is busy, availability is going to be slim, so youd better phone first!
When I asked you could put a tent on an RV site with the RV, you had to make sure you selected the tent add on when you reserved the spot.
There is in Tom Steed lake! No lifeguards (that I know of) though.
Please visit our online reservations at travelok.com
I saw lots of primitive camping areas on the other side of the lake.
