I saw lots of primitive camping areas on the other side of the lake.
A great portion of the lake is surrounded by a wildlife management area- lots of room to explore (though it IS open for hunting, the park area itself has some well marked hiking trails through the rocky terrain that you may like. As far as sleeping/camping- you DO have to stay in the "park" area designated for that. I dont believe they have an area for primitive camping ASIDE from the park area. There is an office at the lake that's open during regular business hours that confirm that for you, however.
Thank you for the help
